Project: Shiny N Clean

Well ive overclocked the CPU to 3.8 GHz just by increasing the BCLK Frequency to 181 :D Been running prime for 10 mins with the case window on (jammed) I put it on max heat one. Temps are 55 C with a 26 C room temp is that ok? Going to go for 4 GHz soon but when I touch the NB with the back of my hand its still hot :-S.

I read some stuff and I upped the V core to 1.35v and the QPI/DRAM to 1.35v, diabled C1E and I thinki dasabled somthing called HT (forget what it does) put the BCLK to 200 and the multiplyer to 21x and I got 4.2 GHz with that stable in primer for about 30 mins then I upped the BCLK to 210 and I got crashes in prime after around 7 mins so I upped the V core to 1.375 and it has been stable for the past 40 mins in prime95 with 1 core just hitting 60c.

I downloaded somthing called CPU-Z and what I think is the NB,SB, MOSFETS temps are...

SYSTIN 35 C

CPUTIN 52 C

AUXTIN 30 C

What one is each? :P

Also... i want to see how far i can go nd i was making my max core voltage to 1.4v is that safe even tho I have watercooling? and has somone know any good advanced i7 overclocking guide?

Well I had to up the v core to 1.375 v to run 4.4 GHz stable (ran prime 95) for an hour.

and now ive hit 4.5 GHz on 1.4 and prime has been running for 15 mins, temps are maxing out at 61 C is this ok for 24/7 use @1.4v?

Can't really get into any game atm :( might jump on BC2 later tho :D

Ive read up and people say 1.4-1-475 for day to day use or 24/7 and you wont damage the chip going past 1.6v if you want to benchmark.

Well I hit 4.7 Prime stable for and hour but that ws at 1.45v so ive went back to 4.5 @ 1.4 and ive been running prime for an hour but when I lowerd it to 1.39 prime wasn't stable after 5 mins.

So you think its ok to run the system @ 4.5 GHz @ 1.4v Core voltage?.

Well ive lowerd the BCLK to 200 which = 4.2 GHz and turned HT on becuase somone says its better? and ive turned the v core down to 1.35 and ran prime for 2 and a half hours, all good :D Im not sure if i should either do 4.5 GHz @ 1.4v no HT or just stay at 4.2 @ 1.325v (currently testing) with HT on? I mainly play games so what do you guys think?

Im also thinking about selling my 920 and buying a 950 ? worth it?

Ok, Ive now got 4.2 GHz 1.305v v core and 1.3v for QPI/dram with HT enabled. prime stable for 12 hours max temps hit 65 C but the room was very hot 27 C but im not sure if thats good for this setup ? should I be getting lower temps ? I think ive put too much thermal paste on the cpu.

Ive saved these settings and I have been reading some guides and im going to try and get to 4.8 GHz + without HT enabled and see how far I can get with it but im going to go up to 1.5v absolutly max because i dont want to fry the chip :P Ill also do some benchmarking if i get it stable enough.

Yeah, I dont temps will be a problem on the cpu side but after the prime95 12 hour run somthing on the MB (NB?) I think maxed out at 54 C but i dont know if its hot for that?

Yeah I took the side of the case of and open the window so its getting cold in here now :D time to get my coat on :D

EDIT: whats best to bench + stress test/stability? Super PI ? what setting do you use 1m ? 32m?

I only went to 4.4 Ghz with HT on (prime stable) because temps got quite hot (73c) and I wanted to see what my max overclock is (I got 4.6 before not 4.7 :P) but ive managed to get 4.65 Ghz 222 BCLK which after that it doesn't want to boot :( temps only just hitting 70 tho but doesnt last long in prim at 1.45 v. Got to go now so ill post some pictures up tomorrow of my super PI score of 8.813 secs at 1m test :D .

Some pics :D

4.2 GHz stable HT on with my last super pi score because I forgot to take one at 4.65 GHz

4.4 GHz prime stable HT on but couldn't go past that, even with an increase on 0.05v ??? do I have to change somthing els?

4.6 Ghz not prime stable tho :( didn't have the time to make it.

Forgot 4.65 !!!! my max BCLK is 222 on my board because it refuses to boot after that, so how do i get further

TBH I don't see the point in running HT when I don't do 8 threaded things like dvd encoding ect... I think games like GTA would benefit more from a 4.4 clock than a 4.2 with HT on.
