Prometheus dvd release question.

I got the Collectors Edition from Tesco. I have to say, watching it a second time in the comfort of my own home, I enjoyed it moreso than at the cinema. I had really high expectations when I saw it at the cinema and felt really let down as I was looking for another Alien movie.

I found I could only enjoy the movie and watching it for what it is by forgetting about any of the other Alien films and how it has similaries. I just pretended it a was standalone movie made by just some director and not RS. Yes it does have some ridiculous flaws that really knock the film down a notch or two but to me, it just ended up being a medicore, easy watching popcorn sci-fi, nothing more.

They have been really cheeky with the versions of DVD and Blu-ray. You only get the full making of documentary (3 hours long) on the collectors edition, not on the normal blu-ray or DVD version.

You do however get the alternate/deleted scenes on all versions AFAIK, now one scene in particular should have stayed in the final cut instead of the released version :

The scene where the crew member comes back to the ship after falling in the black goo in the temple. In the final cut he appeared very human like, in the alternate version, he has transformed a lot more and really resembled the original Alien in its body structure and movement. The alternate scene was so much better, so much more sci-fi and should have stayed in the final cut IMO.

All in all, to me 'just another sci-fi movie' and not a patch on the original Alien series, Im afraid Scott may have lost his touch and is past his sell by date now :( Roll on the sequal to see how that pans out.

6/10

What if you do not have blue ray player can you get dvd special edition of Prometheus? ta

Unfortunately not, the DVD version has basic extra features. The blu-ray is very similar but the blu-ray collectors edition has all the extras.

The deleted scenes run for 36minutes on my bog standard Blu-Ray version, is that the same for you collector copy?

Yeah pretty sure its the same, the collectors edition has the making of called The Furious Gods: Making Prometheus and some other stuff but no 'extra' scenes more than the standard blu-ray I dont think.

Basically the making of, that may highlight other aspects/answers about the movie is on the collectors edition only, good way of screwing more money from you

Just ordered my blu ray collectors edition on amazon, £20 which i dont think is too bad really.

Quite enjoyed the movie at the cinema but looking forward to watching it in the comfort of my own home.

So which is best version to get? am confused now? I want to see every single bit there was made of this movie.

As said above, the collectors edition will have the most extra features content. Until they release a 'Special' Collectors Edition in 6 months with even more features just to screw more money from us.
