PS3 and poor Iplayer quality

I am assuming that because the PS3 does not have proper support for flash (if any support?), then whatever it uses instead just isn't very good at re-coding the video to a decent quality.

I hate the ITV player, it's horrible and a memory hog for the PS3. Thankfully I've got PlayTV so I can just record what I want from live TV rather than have to fiddle with the stupid player.

I suspect if the PS3 could run flash properly, it would happily run full quality.

This sounds dumb and I have not tested it though I assume for Sony to add a player on the title screen it does not work this way.

But cant we just use the browser version of Iplayer on the PS3 or does it nor have a plug in?.

Thats what Iplayer is on the PS3 it opens the browser its just formatted for the PS3. Play about with it and you can get HD content easy.

I went VIA browser and it automatically opens the Iplayer app so yes cant do it VIA browser.

And whats this you say about HD? how can this be done?.

I never said go in through the browser.

Basically Iplayer on the PS3 is a browser app of sorts. It works off the web browser albeit it's opened from what is essentially a bookmark.

Anyway the bit your interested in.

When I've been on the main page I go to the search section and when you select a programme and it will offer to let you view it in HD.

However when I have been able to do this its only ever been anything thats been on BBC HD so things like Top Gear and Mitchell and Webb.

No idea if anything much is on HD wise at the moment last thing I've only really been using it for watching QI and Russell Howard's Good News.

Read back thought you had picked me up wrong

Had a look on it earlier and was able to watch the apprentice in HD easy enough.
