PS3 Delayed until March 2007 for Europe

total allocation for units in North America on November 17 will be 400,000, which is just less than what we had for PS2, and more than Microsoft had for Xbox 360

But surely Microsoft hads the balls to launch their next generation console to the world and not excusively to 2 regions, surely this means they would have to spread the numbers thinner so therefore would achieve that figure of 400,000 if they took the lazy option and released to 2 regions and poured their stock into one mass figure.

What im saying is, Sony boast about figures which microsoft didnt achieve when they actually achieved something which Song didnt...Worldwide launch irrispective of the fact they had a *slight* ( ) shortage!

True, Sony garbage at its best, Face it they cant orgranise a **** up in a brewery, Sony cant keep deadlines unlike Microsoft.

Im not worried about delays, as long as the final product is to a high standard and ready for the market.

The only thing to date will be the graphics, the least important part of a game to me.

Sounds like the Wii would be perfect for you.

As someone else said, drop the price to £220 for the premium and it's game over. I think thats seriously worth the risk to Microsoft to do that.

Microsoft are good at keeping deadlines? :D That must be why Windows Vista is years overdue.

The funny thing is, all the people who didnt buy an xbox 360 cos they could only afford one console will now be in a bad mood. Cos they would have had 16 months to save up for the PS3 again.
My crystal ball tells me there will be a lot of shortages in PAL 360's in the coming weeks.

Anyway it gives me more time to save up. Seroiusly considering taking up that mobile phone deal in the back of the sun to get a free 360. I know its only a core but its free innit.

Really, funny that because the vast majority have people have said the same about the PS3, that there's nothing 'new' that interests them.

GT5 is the main title that interests me I had a go at PGR3 or whatever the 360 equiv is and it just didn't feel right . My bro will be using it the most i'd imagine.

Wanna bet? Given the fact that the Xbox360 was released nearly a year ago and only just had a £20 price drop, I doubt the PS3 will have it's price halfed after 6 months, especially how Sony will need to recover their costs.

We shall see, but the the 360 hasn't had any competition to force the price down has it?

Fair point that. And the free and quick turnaround by Microsoft is absolutely ridiculous isn't it?

That didn't happen with everyone...

Sony will be finished if the PS3 doesnt sell think of the money they have poured into it, and now with all this bad press, they are doomed, stupid MR Sony how can you forget Europe, that will learn ya

at least when they all start dieieng like the 360's they will have fixed the problem then be avaiable to buy here - makes perfect sense

You have no way of knowing that, 360s are still having problems and its nearly a year after it's release what makes you think that they will sort out the ps3's problems in 6 months? Considering the ps3's use more complex technology they could be way worse, but we will just have to see when they are actually released no point spectulating now.

another point that needs to be made is

On the US FAQ it states that PS3 High-Def will not be supported out of the box. Apparently you need to buy the correct cable.

So does this mean that it will be a composite connection? WTF sony! WTF?

Right,

This whole Sony bashing thing is getting out of hand and it is quite amusing I think because the vast majority of them are from Xbox360 fanbois. Anyway, that said now to my contribution on everything that has been revealed today...

Ok, I do believe that Sony have well and truly lost this console war now... Letting Microsoft have two christmas' in a row is just unforgiveable. They have had a whole year to do something about the Xbox360 and it looks to me like they haven't taken the time to their advantage at all. You would have thought that because the console was coming more than a year later that it would be more polished, faster and better in general but there is no guarantee of even that...

Fair enough, they claim to have had issues with the Blueray player specification and now the Blue Ray diodes. They have also had to alter the specification of the console by removing many of the ports and conections. They have even had to downgrade the specification of the Nvidia RSX Processor (not sure if this was Sony's or Nvidia's fault) but for a company of Sony's size I just feel that they've wasted their time and everyone else's time.

The fact that the console is going to be released 15 months after the Xbox360 and is going to be £140 more expensive with similar performance games wise is silly really.

The reason why I like the PS3 is because it has got Gran Turismo, Formula One '06, Warhawk and Metal Gear Solid. I love these games to bits. Until now I have been holding off and saying to myself that I am going to wait until the PS3 is out before I decide which console I want to buy, but this recent announcement has made my decision very easy. I have decided that I will buy an Xbox360 this christmas and then maybe a Playstation 3 in the summer if I can afford it at the time. (I predict there may be problems with hardware and there will be teething problems as there nearly always are with new consoles but hopefully by this stage any teething problems will be ironed out).

One thing that I do not like about the Playstation 3 is the fact that it's controllers do not have dual shock. I mean that garbage about the vibration messing around with the sensors just sounds like the biggest load of pap. There have been controllers released in the past for the Playstation One that embrace this technology that have dual shock built in so it's not a case of "it's just not possible" but then again those controllers weren't bluetooth but they were wireless so who knows. I suspect it is because Sony didn't want to pay off Nintendo for breaching their vibration patents (which I think they should have done by the way. Leaving out a major feature such as this is just unbelievable really and it will be sorley missed!).

In conclusion, Sony has lost it's crown and it has no-one to blame but itself. It's a shame really that it has let so many people down including myself but this delay is really just not surpising really after there were reports that it hadn't even started manufacturing the console yet. Sony's problem I believe is that they are just trying to do too much with their latest console, I mean the Xbox360 is a games console whereas the Playstation 3 is an entertainment system - go figure. God I could write so much more but I'll save your eyes :p

Whappers.

"fanbois"? Jeez, gimme a break read me :/. I've said numerous times that I hated the original Xbox and loved the PS2. I don't think this is a case of anyone being a fanboy, more idiots getting sucked in my Sony's crap.

Oh well...atleast I'm a "fanbois" not a "fanboy" :/

Its amazing that Microsoft will have 2 xmas's all to themselves for the next generation console wars. I bet they never foresaw that one!

Im happy with my 360 and come xmas I will be playing COD3 with any luck.
