PS3 Delayed until March 2007 for Europe

what about the game publishers that are expecting their games to be released worldwide and are now having a game that is ready but Europe cannot buy and the ones they can sell to USA and Japan are now reduced due to limited ps3 amounts. I bet they are cursing Sony and i can see more titles being dropped

There could possibly be some lawsuits. As Sony has failed to deliver on its promises.

Sub-Standard? How. Clearly you have not owned one (unless you kept getting defective ones) because if you did you would realise that the 360 is possibly the biggest evolution in consoles yet.

Sub-standard games? Hardly all are technically better than the previous generations games and a lot are absolutely cracking. My only grievance is that they cost so much, (and in a few cases there is limited/no replay value.

Europe is important as the continents wealth has been improving as has our investment into the console market. Europe is the area of biggest growth in the gaming industry. At the end of the day Sony Makes its profit from game sales, which relates quite nicely to Console Sales. The more consoles you sell the more games you sell. Additionally the more consoles you sell the more likely you are to attract exclusive console selling titles. So the circle continues and profitability rise.

He does have a point. Whilst XBOX live and dashboard are great as is the wireless controller, its still damn noisy, far noisier than it should be in my opinion and it also lacks some built in form of HD disk playing.

Also games are very disappointing apart from PGR3 I cant think of anything else thats worth owning that isnt either on the PC or just about every other console. The big three XBOX 360 games in my opinion that make it worth owning over other formats are Res Evil 5(but think this may also be on PS3), Lost Planet and Halo 3, all of which are slated for release after the PS3 launch. Although from what I have seen most of the titles for the PS3 are yet more sequels of the usual sony line up.

Naaah, dont think he has any point at all. Ive got tonnes of games on my 360 that I wouldn't consider disappointing - that have exceeded any gameplay experience Ive had on past consoles.

Nor do I consider my 360 to be noisy to the point of distraction.

What an idiotic move. Every single member of the American and European game developing community will tell you that Europe is where the next-gen war will be decided.

Unlike in the states, the European market isn't as blind when it comes to making buying decisions, you screw it over and the market will screw you. We have all seen what happened to the PSP.

This extra few months will be the deciding factor in the next gen war. Not only has Sony missed the holiday hot-spot but also the thousands of younger consumers that would only be allowed to spend that sort of money for Christmas.

They best hope the console doesn't run out in USA/JAP otherwise big trouble.

Sony need a PR lesson, but at least Playstation Hub should be up and stable by then, let all the US folk break it first. There will be a new good firmware in it by then. Bah who am i kidding, i want one now!!!!

Edit, Is it sony who are building wembly?? or built the Scotish Parlament.
Over Budget, and late!

changed my opinion on you mate, used to think you were a fanboy, but you are even admitting the sony are taking the mickey out of loyal customers like yourself

im trying hard not to type fanboyishly, but i have always suspected that europe would get shafted, ive converted a lot of people with my 360 (converted one last night) and tbh with this news il convert loads more. I reckon MS will not be able to believe their luck, honestly, and if i had pre ordered i wouldnt be happy to see that they have my cash until march at the earliest, but i think the ps3 will end up on uk shores about this time 07, next year

+ im glad that ninty have a good chance of using this to get the WII of the ground and into a sucessful format, as basically thre glitz of the 360 has gone now (i.e shiny syndrome) so the WII has xmas all to itself, although im sure the 360 now has "adult" gamers to itself

potato roffles indeed

Nintendo just better be able to get their console out this side of Christmas!

I really hope they do, but they have been equally cagey as Sony when it comes to release dates, production yields.

While Microsoft are probably quite pleased with themseleves at the moment I bet Ninty are partying throughout the night.

If they can get the Wii out by Christmas they will bassically steal sony's consumer base untill March who are looking for a cheaper replacement console. I can see children accross the country asking for playstations and opening 360's and Wii's instead.

Is the Wii due pre-christmas?

Cant believe Sony are actually doing this, giving your direct competitor a year to sell consoles before you get yours out, and then giving them another half a year on that allowing another competitor to enter the market with their new console..

I know there is a lot of faith for the Playstation, but faith can be broken.. It will undoubtedly sell well in Japan, and probably not badly in America, but i cant help but think that all the factors that keep cropping up about the PS3 is going to lead to an intangible blow to the consumers faith. I mean when it does arrive i can see all the fanboys posting the top selling console figures.. but i think Microsoft have won their fight and the Wii could too in this round.

Two bloody Christmas's!

Totally insane

EDIT: This will also spell bad new for Blue-Ray, with HD-DVD nearly out and no playstation to spearhead the Blue-Ray campaign it may lose early adopters fast.

words fail me at how sony can allow MS to xmas's head start

even if sony come in and wipe the floor with MS, MS have definately got their foot in the door now

this particular console war has been intresting to say the least, and we only have one console shipping so far :p

I do believe i said in another topic that there was no way that Sony could produce 2 million ps3 for they havnt started making it yet, So this is what it feels like to be right :p

This is more a win for Nintendo than MS, first time in a few years that Nintendo has a good clear shot at the EU market this X-mas.

To laugh or cry.... i lol'd anyway :p

I was planning on selling my PS3 on ebay in November (yes i know im 'selfish' etc), but thats not gonna happen unless i manage to import a PS3, which will probably be near impossible until January. At least i have more time to save up now, as well as buy the Xbox 360 games i want this year.

I was thinking of being very naughtly and buying a EU PS3 just to make a mint on it on Ebay. Now I could order one from the States or Japan and make quite a bit of moola.

Damn conscience refuses to let me though.

Absolutely right. I really hope Nintendo can continue the ds success with the Wii.

;)

If there's really only 400k units in the states, I can't even imagine how much they are going to go for on ebay

Sony has never done itself any favours in Europe, especially when you look at the price difference between europe and the rest of the world when they were selling the PS2 at a premium... the xbox 360 is a really good machine... yes I know that Japan and the US are their biggest markets, but I always got tought that you were suppose to expand into markets that you do not yet dominate...

Stelly

I think the PS3 delay is only good for the gaming market. (I wish it never comes out). :D

Comsumer will get to enjoy more original titles from Xbox 360, Wii, DS instead of PSone sequels with better graphics.

Software developers are getting too lazy to come up with original titles because of the Sony Playstation.
