PS4 & XB1 are guestimated to sell up to 12m & 9m respectively.

If they manage to sell that many I'm guessing the devs that are currently avoiding making games for next gen will begin to have a change of heart.

Nintendo are screwed by the looks of it

Yeh, I would also guess that as Nintendo won't be selling anywhere close to 100m like the wii, that all those lost Nintendo sales will go the the PS4 & XB1, so they could potentially sell 100+ million each this gen depending out how the marketshare plays out.

Just looked at vgcharts, and PS4 apparently sold 170k last week, while the xb1 sold 82k. I don't know how accurate vgcharts is, but there next gen figures did add up to MS's and Sony official figures a while ago.

I think PS4 will outsell XB1 by a slim margin in NA for January. Mainly because the PS4 is generally still sold out compared to XB1. I'm not sure how Sony will find spare consoles to supply Japan. Perhaps Japan will eat into NA/EU's supply.

It's alright I hear they have all their fantastic first party studios working overtime at Microsoft...

If this keeps up they may become multiplats.. like bungie...

Can't confirm these number yet but some are saying...

Wii U Dec 2012 (460k) > Jan 2013 (57k) = -88% drop.

X1 Dec 2013 (908k) > Jan 2014 (145k) = -84% drop.

If the figures are accurate, then XB1 sales practically fell off a cliff, while PS4 sales should be just under 300k which isn't majorly impressive in terms of the size of the number, but is massively impressive compared to the competition. It will be interesting to see hard confirmed numbers.

Its not really indicative of anything yet, though PS4 will still sell more, whilst XO is in such a small market ( compared to global PS4) it doesn't really tell us anything apart from what we already know, whilst they are both selling in the millions, then millions of difference doesn't matter as much, every ones making money.

This is just NA in those figures. MS's home turf. If they lose this badly in NA, they stand zero chance in the rest of the world. It doesn't matter how many countries MS will launch XB1 in, as it will lose badly (more than in NA) in those countries.

You do know Bungie did not take Halo with them, and that 343i is made up of ex-Bungie staff?

So I fail to see your point...

When the guys from infinityward left, they didn't take COD with them, but they went on to make Titanfall (COD:Real Steal). When Bungie walked away from MS & Halo, they went on to make Destiny (multi-plat).

Sometimes the talent is worth more than the name of the franchise.

So JUST in teh months of Jan?

Ill ask if you have them, total sales between them for NA since launch?

Neither MS or Sony have released actual figures. Sony HAS stated they sold almost double, MS said nothing (which says everything) except XB1 has sold faster than 360 overall.
Sony also say they have sold more PS4's in NA in total (all months numbers combined).

Your point still fails as titanfall isnt on a Sony console though...

No the principal of the point I'm making does not fail, other than you are failing to understand.
Titanfall is only MS only due to MS giving EA a huge stack of cash. I think most will agree though, EA are likely kicking themselves now, as I doubt the money MS gave them will make up anywhere near the lost revenue. Unless MS buy Titanfall IP like they did gears, expect Titanfall 2 on PS4/PS3.

But no actual numbers?

So if Sony sold less, then made it up with better supplies in NA, things could be quite close over all ( not saying it is, but if you sell double the amount in Jan, only because they were not available in Nov/ Dec (( and they even had a week head start))....then its not the big deal some would make believe that they sold that much more in Jan where supplies where met.

Supplies were not met in Jan, ps4 was sold out AGAIN in NA. If there were more ps4 stock available, who knows how much would have sold.

@anti
If you are a developer, are you going to ignore a 160+ million install base in favour of a 20 million install base? Titanfall is clearly not about graphics anyway, so I doubt they will pass up that revenue stream, especially as EA is in trouble.

You really do prefer to misunderstand when it suits you dont you.
Better supplies relative to what they had in the end of December FOR NA!?

Their biggest territory, so big the ignored them and concentrated NA first cause thats the market they wanted the most?.

I dont think yo know how product distribution works either, they arnt stock piling, IE diverting lines of sales form other places, they have product lines divided and set to certain regions spread across many different build lines.

No not better supplies than what they had in end of December. It is estimated PS4 only was able to sell just under 300k in NA in Jan (supply constrained). In December they sold allot more than that.
XB1 is estimated to have only sold 145K, with stock collecting dust on store shelves...

I really can't believe I am having to explain this to you, I would have thought it was obvious. They ignored Japan because it was a safe territory, there is no way Xbox will ever be a threat there. It simply won't sell.

To further explain this concept. Political parties for example will divert resources from safe seats in local elections to unsafe seats in in it's campaign against the opposition. It is a TACTICAL decision, nothing more.. nothing less...

He's already predicted how many consoles will sell.

No. I'm going by what analysts prediction numbers (as linked to in literally the opening post). 20 million seems like a best case imo. I doubt XB1 will get anywhere near it's forecast sales levels. Perhaps XB1 might hit 6m if they are lucky.
