How does it look on a 27'' 1440p monitor?

I'd like to give the PlayStation a try and play some of these exclusives but this is holding me back. I'm not going to upgrade solely for the console. Do any of you play on a 1440p monitor?

Thanks

I have done so occasionally on a 2560 1440 monitor. I have an underfloor hdmi cable between my pc desk and the TV, and I sometimes use it to hook up my ps5 to my monitor so that I am not hogging the TV.

It is certainly playable, but you are not seeing the best of what the console is offering. Personally I wouldn't buy a ps5 just to play on a1440 monitor.

Do you not have a tv?

All other factors being equal, 27" @1440P looks no worse than a 55"@ 4k

Not when it's natively supported, like my first response noted.
But it is not natively supported (yet), which is why I am saying from my experience, you really are not seeing the console at its best, and it is not worthwhile.

If Sony ever get round to supporting 1440, then obviously things change.

The ps5 signal will be 1080 and then stretched to 1440, so yes it does look considerably worse.

Not the same console but similar situation.

I play my PS4 Pro on a 27" 1440p monitor and the image is actually really good so not even sure what you would quantity 'considerably worse' as.

My monitor does claim to be at a 4K resolution when I switch it to the PS4 Pro but it can't he as it's not 4K monitor.

Not entirely sure myself what scaling the PS4 Pro does or if the image is produced natively at 1440p.

They're adding native 1440P support "soon". I believe it's in beta already but no official word on when it will be out officially.
Source?

Not exactly, it will be downscaled from 4K and there are some image quality benefits from supersampling, so it will look better than it would running at native 1080p. However, the monitor will have to upscale it to 1440p which could degrade the image depending on how good the monitor's upscaling is. Some 1440p monitors will accept the 4K input and downscale it to 1440p.
