pst file password recovery tool

Has anybody got a good free tool they can recommend ?

i backed up my pst file while changing laptop to one of our servers. Unfortunately as i dont have admin rights the folder was not restricted and even though it was only on there for a day, somebody found it and password protected it and didnt tell me the password.

no

its a public folder and our servers dont have logging. Could be anyone in the department

nirsoft PST Tool is good
and is NOT a virus, its a hack tool
any Decent AV will find it as a virus, just knock it off for a mo

Just to confirm, nirsoft are safe

Disable mcafee, it just doesn't like a lot of their stuff

Yer it's fine, another reason why virus scanners suck...

They just blacklist 'hacker tools'

work use mcafee viruscan enterprise 8.7. New feature for 8.7 is that you cant stop the services, local admin rights or not. Even the taskkill command doesnt work as it self protects and you cant stop / kill the on access scanner in any way shape or form.

Only way to shut down the on-access scanner is to unlock the console and stop it that way. Predictably of course being a works laptop the password is kept by internal network support and not given to us. So i improvised.

password sucessfully recovered. Thanks for the advice guys. Said muppet had changed it to h7TZ0r5 ie hotzors in leet speak. Time to find who did it and crack some heads !
