Hi my Corsair HX620W makes a zzzzzzzzzzzzzz noise under load, when I start Battlefield 3 until I quit from the game, works fine, just makes a noticable noise.

I have an RMA but wonder what's going on - is it coils or capacitors that make that nosie?

It's i5, SDD, 8gb and no overclock, no HDD, one gfxcard rated at 99W to 300W under load so I don't expect I am putting that PSU under much stress.

Normal PC use it is as quiet as a mouse.

Thanks

Yep I had a google there and had a read about sounds from PSU's and MB's, never new about that.

As it happens it's an MSI AMD 7970 card.

The PSU has been used successfully just for HTPC and never over-stretched.

As luck would have it I have an identical PSU which was in another gaming PC so I will swap it out and update you.

Will also RMA the zzzzzzzz-ing one and post what Corsair say, in my experience they are really helpful.

Thanks Stulid, must say I have learnt a shed load of PC stuff reading your posts on here, its appreciated, regards pod

Update for you. Corsair support did it again, I got an email yesterday that UPS were delivering something to me, today I received a brand new HX750W from Corsair!

Astonishing levels of customer service, it cost me about £20 to send my PSU to them, they paid the return cost.

No diagnosis provided for the fault, I guess it was beyond economic repair, I assume my Call of Duty skills had just been too much of a power draw for that old PSU to handle! I wish.....

Thank you Corsair
