Hello folks,

Got couple questions for you. First of all a short backround story.

I moved house today, and obviously i moved my PC aswell, the PC i have is with fallowing specs:

Silverstone TJ06 case
Ati 2900XT
2x OC Ram 677mhz
Asus Motherboard supporting 755 conroe E6600
With ATX somth. OCZ 600w psu.

SO what happened is, i got my pc sorted and right when i was switching it on, i heard small grrrbshhh and small lights just comign out of the PSU, so there goes my psu i guess, since it happened i was not able to switch pc on.

So i got 2 questions.

1. In these situations, since i don't know and i hope it didnt damage any other PC parts. Do i have to look only for PSU or could i damage any other PC parts like mobo, VGA card etc?

2. In mean time i am looking for new psu, and i would like to go for something very, very silent indeed. Don't need nothing more than 600w i would have think, what kinda psu would you recommend and what would fit into my case?

I did build this rig myslef 2 years ago, i dont exactly rememebr what kinda psu it was, but i tink it was smth. like OCZ 600w ATX 2, in mean time i will double check tomorrow the current psu, so i will post the full name of it.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Cheers

First of all thank you for so quick response Phill. Thank God there is small chance that my other PC components might be damaged ( Good to know)

About PSU you recommended, it does say it is Ultra-quiet , but would it be quite enought? has anyone got one of these babes?

WHen i bought my OCZ 600x ages ago, which was suppose to be very quite as well, turns out it wasnt that quite, however it was 2 years ago and i bet nowdays, there should be better psu's, like u just mentioned it seems to be quite decent.

Also it should be okay for my system specs right ? Ati 2900XT is a bit juicy if ya know what i mean mate.

Cheers

yes it will be fine for you spec and just look around google for customer reviews, the ones that i have read say that they cant hear it over theircase and cpu fans and that its really quiet

Should have no probs with that corsair psu, I'm using the 650w tx one here, glad i bought mine when I did as I only paid £59 for it :)

and don't forget you should be able to rma the faulty ocz psu as they have a 3 year warranty

Is there a big difference ATX or ATX 2 ? I am looking at my PSU and it doesnt really say anything. The Model number is OCZGXS600.

I want to order PSU tonight, but wanna really make sure the one i go for will fit in. Been away from HW for long time so don't really remmember all this stuff.

I won't go for warranty, since i need PC rdy as soon as possible, besides that PSU was too noisy for me, so i am happy to try new one with less noise.

Cheers
