Its time to upgrade my i3! Had her for 7 years purchased on here, been overclocked @ 4.0ghz the entire time I haven't ever had a single issue. Big up OCUK.

I want to use my current psu (normal atx size) OCZ ZS 750w in my new build (i7 extreme 980k) but I don't want to leave her (my old pc!)without a psu :(. In the next 2 years I plan on making an itx pc small form factor .

I'm thinking it might be worth buying an itx sized psu now, sticking it in my old pc for the time being just so I can use her . I don't care about aesthetics with this one I'm aware there will be a big hole but is it possible to even do ?!

I predict the old girl only needs about 450 w power

Advice appreciated!!!

Don't use the old PSU in a new build. The OCZ PSUs were never that great to start with. At 7 years old, the questionable quality capacitors will have degraded even further.

Edit: it's a dated Bronze-rated Sirfa design with an el-cheapo 85C rated cap on the primary side.
