Dad has agreed if we find a nice enough pup we can get one.

Having a very timid cat, we dont want anything too big, originally looking at a Boxer or a Bull Dog, we've decided not to at the moment.

Not really wanting anything too 'yappy', and preferably a medium sized dog, cavalier/spaniel perhaps a bit bigger.

Recently, my aunt has got a Kaboodle (lol) - King Charles cross Poodle. And it has hair instead of fur (afaik) so its not moulting everywhere, something similar to this would be even better.

Any ideas of some pups to look for? Also where to look?

Located in Surrey.

Ta for any help.

Honestly one of the best dogs we've ever had. Such a great temperment, they don't molt, are playful when you want them to be and quiet when you want them to be too, intelligent dogs too!

We have two, they get on well with all other dogs. They don't really bark either

We got one of ours in Surrey, not sure where though sorry!!

If you have a cat, don't get a puppy.

It'll be like urinating on your parents faces while they sleep (to your cat).

:edit: Although, the above dogs are awesome :D

We have 2 cats too, and both dogs get on with the cats because the dogs are so laid back, not doing the normal dog thing and chasing them etc, instead they all just get on

it's glorious!

Haha, the cat should be fine, as long as when we get the pup - its smaller than the cat at first, so she can dominate haha.

Shes a quiet cat, sleeps most of the day - so should be fine.

The dogs above look okay, but not the best looking :D.

Edit:

The pups are so cute!

How big are they at pups?

How much do they cost - around abouts?

They are pretty small to be honest and grow to the size of about a poodle, albeit a little larger. We got ours for £500 each but it's been some of the best money we've ever spent

Will bare them in mind.

Other dogs we've had in mind are Beagles/Jack Russell's, but both are yappy buggers.

I always think a black labrador is th best looking dog. As a puppy and as adult.

How can you say no?

Cool, I'm sure whatever you get you'll love

guess it's just finding the right dog for you with a good personality.

Advice - don't go for the first you see, have a look at a few, spend time with them, and good breeders will let you do this.

We went to see 6 schnauzer pups before we choose, some looked fine but the breeders wouldn't let us spend time with them which made us suspicious.

good luck

Check out the Lakeland Terrier, Irish Terrier and although a bit bigger, the Airedale Terrier.
All are very intelligent dogs, respond well to training, are confident and are not yappy as some people put it. The Irish terrier and the Airedale need strict training when young so unless you are willing to discipline the dog, look for a more mainstream breed.

Ye get a labrador, Ive got a golden one myself. Cutest dam thing even then there old and young. Heres afew pics of when she was first in the house.

The first day we got here, pretty terrified as you can see...

For a timid cat there's no such thing as a suitable dog, but if you get it as a pup you'll minimize the damage.

I'd suggest a terrier (westy) lovely dogs and I know from experiance they can get on with cats... if anything the cat's the one in charge... though every cat and dog's different. At worst the dog won't be much bigger than the cat and will be fairly indifferent having grown up around it.
