Pussy Riot face jail - what are your views?

Really interesting (and kinda scary) to see whats happening in Russia. For those who dont know whats goin on: a punk-rock outfit called Pussy Riot sang a song in front of the altar in one of Moscows most important churches. Lots of swearing etc. The song was against the government.

The authorities were not impressed. They got flung in jail (already served 5 months) and can face upto *7 years* in prison for this. By their own admission they have acknowledged that doing this in a church wasnt the best idea but even they did not see this hardline stance against them coming. Its sad to see....they dont deserve to be jailed for this.

Its that old story again of the old hardliners locking up the young.

I gotta hand it to them - they have guts and are standing up to the system.

The country has put away high-ranking bankers and millionaires behind bars, these poor gals...dont stand a chance.

Sometimes its hard to believe its 2012 reading stories like this where just speech (singing) can get you 7 years (depending on where you live). I guess it makes you appreciate the greater freedom of expression we enjoy here. ..? How longs that gonna last lol.
