The Police break into a house to find a man dead in his armchair with a bullet in his head. By his side is a gun and and a tape recorder. Mr Policeman presses play on the tape recorder and hears a voice saying "I can't take it anymore, I'm going to shoot myself!!!" and then the BANG of a gun going off...

The Police immediately open a murder investigation, how do they know that it's murder?

Someone would have had to rewind the tape to that point on it for that policeman to press play and hear the message.

They usually rewind/change sides and carry on playing until it hits the end of the tape/side.

The above is speculation really

The man had the hiccups. The drink and being scared by the gun stopped the hiccups
