I know this question must pop up regularly, but i'm at a total loss here, I know virtually nothing about mobiles and i've been on the same 02 tarrif for the last few years. Just seems that i'm paying a little too much compared to friends etc.

Currently i'm on a sim-only deal with o2. Whereby i'm paying £37 a month (rolling monthly) for 800 anytime any network minutes and 800 texts. No free internet. I don't really need this many txt/mins tbh.

With that i'm using a nokia 6630 that I bought from ebay, this is usefull because i've got tomtom mobile and a bluetooth GPS reciever in the car.
Here's a list of things that ideally i'm looking for:

*I would like to keep my existing mobile number.
*Ideally i'd like to spend around £25 maximum per month.
*I dont mind commiting to an 18 month contract but i'd really prefere it to be a straight forward plan, no double minutes for 6 months or half price line rental blahblah, just plain old 'x' amount per month.
*Minutes are more important than text really, I wouldnt say that I need more than 250 texts per month and at least 500 anytime any network minutes.
*I would like a decent phone, something quick (software wise) with a good camera, bluetooth, msn compatibilities (my 6630 wont run agile for some reason) and no bigger than my 6630 (exception made maybe for a smart phone like the xda mini). Ideally it would be able to run tomtom mobile 5, but that might be unlikely, so if not i'll just keep the 6630 in the car with an old sim (heres the link to the compatibility list for tomtom - http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=208&Language=1).

I went into town and had a look at some of the phones about and liked the look of the sony ericson k800i (very much so really) and Nokia N73-1 (because it looks ok and it would most likely run tomtom).

I know this isnt the carphone warehouse so sorry for producing a list lol, but it just seems theres ten million deals out there and I need to find somsone that knows more about them than me!.

FlexT web'n'walk with a Vario II phone/pda, you'll get broadband like speeds to your mobile with unlimited use (within reason like normal ISPs) so no GPRS fees etc. Means you can have your e-mail, weather and all sorts piped directly your phone as well as Google earth (something I'm well impressed with and you can use your GPS with it! :) )

Also, you get around £35 worth of calls/text a month to use before you are charged on the lowest tariff (one I'm on). I just left o2, getting a LOT more for my money with T-mobile and the customer service is actually very good!

Try calling o2 retentions and see what they can offer you.

Say you have sen better deals elsewhere with lots of web access and you will be cancelling unless they can match the deal

I was going to give this a go anyway tbh, after i'd found a decent tariff/company, then they would have either matched it, or i'd leave (i doubt they would match it though, from hat i have been told they're quite rigid).

Well, after calling around and bartering hardstyle I got a few decent ofers. Finally settled on another o2 contract. 750 mins/750 txt (anytime and netwk), a sony k800i and some free video minutes. For the princely sum of £30ppm with an 18 month contract. And I get £180 credited to my account to start things off.
I'm sure theres better out there, but they all wore me down with 90's top of the pops hold tunes.
