Q Cars to shame the Boy Racers

Curent cars, Mazda 3 MPS without a doubt is the most unassuming genuinly fast car I can think of, In black it is very dull/very few hints to its actual performance.

Older cars, erm... no doubt the Japanese built some over engined, under styled 4 door beige mobile in the mid 90's.

Then there is Sweedens contribution to bland but bonkers fast automobiles, The 850 T5-R...

Again, it's a car with 4 exhuasts, a bodykit and big wheels. It looks 'sporty'.

99% of boy racers, if they pulled up alongside one for a race, would not have a clue, and would think it's a normal MG/Rover.

Is there anyone you don't argue with?

Only rejected it 'cos there are a couple of lowered and pimped Lupo's with wide alloys around here already, one a turbo, and I don't think the locals would be startled at a fast Lupo even in sheep's clothing.

ruffneck's VW van could be fun though.

Fair. I didn't really look at the other posts in fairness...the Lupo in the link is fairly modified too...Still that one would confused boy racers.

how about this

a totally standard looking plastic pig with a yamaha R1 engine grafted into the footwell, I xxxx myself taking that out, the look on folks faces when you storm past in that thing is pure awesome!

I imagine a Ford Scorpio would be pretty sweet with an LS1 under the bonnet. Pretty ugly and slow looking, but a monster underneath. Would be great.

So far the closest seems the Maestro Turbo dropped back to look like a standard Maestro in some old beige colour. Plain wheels (no alloys) few bits of rust and the bumper part hanging off and tied on with string. Looking like it wouldn't even fetch £25.

Can you just see the look on a boy racer's face as it leaves him for dead with all his mates laughing their heads off.

Surely since any Maestro Turbo is knocking on for about 20 years old now it fails the definition of contemporary? I mean sure, it may well look like a heap and leave a number of boy racers wondering what has happened but you set the time period up as part of the rules for rejecting other cars.

I'd think of contemporary as any time within the past 5 years or so, maybe 10 at a push since some models last that little bit longer so you wouldn't necessarily know the changeover.

Mk3 Mondeo V6 (not an ST220 obviously) just the straight up 3 litre V6 with the relevant badges removed, just looks like a regular Mondeo then really. I know the associated ST220 is quick but they are also quite distinctive if you know what you are looking at, so easily spotted, the V6 isn't as it doesn't have the twin exhausts or fancy wheels etc.

Or a Ford Taurus SHO if you can find one in this country, they look bland as hell, just some big '90s Ford that most people here wouldn't even recognise, they'd probably think it was a Scorpio even ...however the SHO has a really rather good 3.4 V8 engine in it, with 235bhp and 230lbs/ft of torque ...not really all that fast, especially as it's fairly heavy but it'll certainly sort your average boy racer out and he wouldn't know what the hell it was.

My Saab 9-5 aero is pretty good for this - 256bhp turbo with very little to differentiate it from a 1.9 Diesel - it still only has 17" wheels and 1 exhaust. Just looks like a smart silver saloon.
