Q6600 keeping my room warm!!

I work away all week, and I leave my heating off. On a Saturday night, 2 mates and I will game until the small hours.

My rig, and usually 2 laptops. Its surprising how 3 people & 3 PC's can warm an otherwise freezing cold room, by themselves!

my GTX280 heated my room more than my Q6600 ever did before it cooked it's self.

From the blast of hot air that I get from my GTX260, I agree, its the GFX card that kicks out far more heat than the CPU...

A watt measuring plug. You can get em from electronics shops, pretty useful things if you are looking to save on electricity bills. Can use common sense also but somehow having the numbers and stats seem to make more of an impact when trying to conserve power.

Since I added another 5830 and overclocked everything in sight, I haven't had any heater on in my flat once. Been over a month now. :D

However. According to my meter, it's burning over 75p a day in electricity. If I do any benching this shoots up. Haven't managed to break £2 in a day before, but It's getting there. :p

My Q6600 has 1.5volts going into it & max temps are about 63c, however I feel little if any heat coming off it, still need to have the radiator on (which is on the far wall, opposite my pc). Got double glazing, cavity wall insulation & loads of insulation in the loft, tbh I don't see how a pc can heat up a whole room, unless it is a particularly small one (my bedroom is 14'x12').

Whilst I admit to not knowing sod all about Q6600's, that does strike me a bit high!?!

New cooler and / or a re-paste? No?

probably need to, but can't be arsed at the mo. only happened to check a while back with coretemp. if i hadnt i wouldnt have known.

wil do it at some point though. thank god they gave up on those bolt through heat sinks!

haha the care free attitude towards one of the best cpus lol:D. That implies if you overclocked your Q6600 and temps went close to 100C, you still wouldn't have given a ****:p.

The new 2600k's run on stock coolers just under 80 when being bashed by prime 95 still run fine.

i'd be concerned if you near the 100 mark especially unclocked.

and matthab try 30 rows of 10 on the top floor of 2 floors full of sweaty geeks and pc's in the middle of summer thats unbearable!

hangovers and lans do not mix in the summer
