Hi,

Would a Q6600 overclock okay with the stock hsf?

I know the thermalright ultra extreme is rated - but all this talk about not being flat bothers me - is this still the case? what fan would be recommended with this?

thanks

You might a small OC out of the stock cooler...but I wouldnt run with that if you want to clock it. There are other good air coolers...Tuniq Tower does a good job. Got my Q6600 at 3.5Gz with that...temps are pretty good for air.

i think the tuniq tower is out of stock :(

would it be better to get a different chip then and oc that?

im new to this oc lark :) dont want to buy the q6600 and find it doesnt get very far with ease........ the dual core is easier?

Thermalrite Ultra or Scythe Ninja.

With good cooling it should clock as far as a dual core, and u know it will be ready for any games coming out next year.

I have currently got my Q6600 @ 3ghz using the stock intel cooler. Seems ok at the moment however i am looking at possibly getting the titan amanda.

thats pretty good, how are the temps?
hows the thermalright ultra 90 - the Thermalrite Ultra extreme seems way too expensive :)
Anandtech liked the Thermalright Ultima-90.

Pity you weren't about two weeks ago because overclockers.co.uk were selling the Ultra-120 Xtreme for £32 which was a bargain!

wow £32 - was it on a today only deal?
is the xtreme non extreme and 90 much different?

was even thinking of the tuniq tower but thats out of stock

Using TAT its idling anywhere between 50 and 55c. During gaming i'm not sure, i will test it later during bioshock. Anyone got anyidea how i can display the temp for all 4 cores using TAT? It currently only shows me CPU0 and CPU1? In the logging window it shows all four though.

I'm getting 43-47c (43 in the BIOS, 47 is the MAX ive seen in Abit uGuru after I have quit playing a game or 3dmark) and im running on the stock cooler at 3ghz. That with a EVGA Geforce 8800 Ultra Superclocked I'm getting 13,669 3DMarks... i'm sure i've seen someone with 18k on the same hardware... any ideas?

Aibt I35 Pro motherboard, G0 Q6600, 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC8500 (I know... I know... I didnt do enough reading before I bought it...)

Me? I've got an old Akasa Eclipse-52 (something like that) case, i've bumped up the OC now to 355FSB (3195Mhz) and uGuru is still saying 40c ad i've just run 3DMark06 through again.
