what will be the estimated price (for q6600) after the July price drop?

and what will be the price in late auguest or early september?

also, will OCuk be selling G0 stepping q6600's or we'll have to see our luck when buying

i know the pricing now: around 180 after price drop?

what about how can we know if it's G0 or now when buying? i would personally be willing to spend the extra 5 or 10 quid to make sure it's G0 stepping.

Some code on the side of box iirc, sure a few in 'the know' will jump on a tell you soon enough. ;) Dought any retailer will tell you what ones they have coz they want to clear old stock first. :)

Id like to see that option to or at least let us know the serial number of the cpu before we decide like a certain competitor is doing.

They don't ship to the UK so they don't technically count as a competitor.

I assume that OcUK will get rid of their B3 stepping stock before they sell G0's but I could be wrong.

the Q6600 is $266 soon in batches of 1000

so they will sell here for £160-£165 if the exchange rate holds (that is inc our VAT tax)

I installed a G0 stepping Q6700 last night and tbh I wasn't blown away, dont all expect them to clock much better than the B3 steppings.

Elaborate please?

Well I think some people are expecting these to hit 4Ghz easy and they will be dissapointed. It didnt seem to clock any higher than the B3 steppings ive seen.

Im sure the temps will be a bit better though ive never had a B3 to compare.

You sure your not talking about the E6850s? I think people are expecting 4GHZ on the Dual Core chips like the E6850.

Of course, the G0 stepping is great for benching and 40 seconds of prime (thats what XS consider stable). Long term high clocks at stable speeds, the G0 won't be much better if any better than the current B3

Reading this G0 stuff with interest, as I am expecting to be able to cherry-pick a Q6600 based on stepping.....chose my 29B E6600 ;).......just now need to see that the price-drop really materialises, and doesn't get 'delayed' by retailers clearing older (more expensively purchased) stocks....
