And yes they are mine. :D

I need to sort myself out with some DDR3 ram. 3rd order from OCUK this week. DOH! And then I'll get some figures up at stock clocks, Overclocked on air clocks, and some phase action later on.

Edit: the square skull fits over the Southbridge. It's for demo purposes. The Skull is the logo for the motherboard (Bonetrail). You can see it next to the I/O. It's also where the flash went on the board.

Yes the chipset has a metal back plate. I'll take some more pics later.

I have an Asus Maximus board coming tomorrow. I also have some Crucial Ballistix PC8500 that should be good for 1300fsb. I also have 3 other chips that need overclocking, but they will have to wait now.

Edit: Jokester dropped off some Cell Shock PC3-14400 to 'test'.

I might try waterchilling the CPU as well since I have a D-Tek Fuzion CPU block.

I will do air clocking first (Zalman CNPS9700), I could try normal watercooling, waterchilled cooling and Phase too (unit tuned for 260w load).

I have spent the afternoon testing hardware. Unfortunatly the Bonetrail board wasn't playing ball, just as well my Asus Maximus arrived this morning.

Also turns out that I have A Q9550, not the QX9650 as I thought. Not to worry. It wont stop me testing it out. :D

All I can say is wow, this CPU runs cool. With a stock intel cooler is idles just above room temperature on an open platform. Core temp takes a hissy fit and crashes the PC.

On with the testing. Here is the start:

speed fan beta doesnt work with it either. The Asus AI suite works fine though. Says its idling 2c above ambient. Orthos loading up all 4 cores was reported at 53c. This is using a stock Intel cooler, so significant gains to be had here.

I'm guessing I'll run out of FSB on the motherboard first (Asus Maximus Formula SE). An FSB of 450 would get me 3.6Ghz, which all P35 /X38/X48 should be able to manage. Off to flash the bios and then start overclocking on stock cooling.
