Does anyone here play Quake 1 online?? or know someone that does??
I remeber it beiong awesome fun, and the other day I played some and it still held up in terms of gameplay!

I would be very suprised if there was anyone who did still play, but maybe there is someone with gamespy who can have a quick look?

well i played single player of quake 1 im not sure if anyone is playing quake 1 online maybe if you make private server for some fun i think it would be hard to find quake 2 servers

quake.xs4all.nl Quakeworld Free-For-All is busy any afternoon or evening.

either use the in-game server browser to find other players, or at the console (press the key beneath escape to open it) type...
connect quake.xs4all.nl
...and you're in.

And there are always duels or team matches being played on various servers around Europe.

QW Client Programs:
http://ezquake.sourceforge.net/ for people who have a copy of Quake
http://nquake.sourceforge.net/ for those without the game who just want to try QW (bear in mind you won't have some of the maps that come with the game using this option).

forums/discussion:
http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum is usually busy, but down at the moment due to a hosting failure.
and IRC is _still_ the way a lot of people organise games - ask some other people on the servers which channels they hang-out in (on Quakenet).

Edit: 12 players plus 2 spectators on quake.xs4all.nl just now.

Use All Seeing Eye or www.quakeservers.net to find servers. Gamespy is very outdated now and most of the active servers aren't on there.

#qwrookie , #quakeworld and #ezquake are good channels to ask questions on irc://irc.uk.quakenet.org

For the latest demos, go to www.challenge-tv.com . The QHLAN11 demos from earlier this month should be good viewing (e.g. Reppie vs Nabbe), that is the premier QW LAN event in Europe.

I still play, albeit rather infrequently due to other commitments and poor ping. QW is still being actively developed and has as much or as little depth as you want. It's arguably the best platform for competitive play but in recent times there have also been moves to get new players more involved.

Bear in mind that the UK scene mostly died out around 5 years ago, so it's all about europe now. Most clans these days are multinational but there are some good servers in holland, germany and denmark which give under 40ms ping if you have a decent connection.

I still play on and off but have recently found myself back on Enemy territory.

Its one of them games you can go back to every few years and still find people on it :)

I wish i could go back 10 years and just play qw in all the old leagues :D
