Hi guys

I am trying to get a stable 4ghz overclock on my i7920 and wondered does anyone know if its ok to put 1.66 -1.68v through the memory on a
i7920?

Reason I ask is that when I try and change the memory voltage my BIOS to anything above 1.6 it warns me in big red letters not to go above 1.6v as it will damage the cpu.

Edit: Heres the memory I have Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8
Cheers

1.66 will be fine for dram. You must keep the difference between dram voltage and qpi voltage within 0.5v but even so i would not go over 1.7 on dram.

When you set the memory voltage you are not only changing the voltage supply to the memory but also that of the CPU's onboard memory controller, Intel recommend staying below 1.65V because of the memory controller.

Therefore going above 1.65V is pretty much "at your own risk".

ok cheers

its just that my pc keeps rebooting when i run prime 95 and i wondered if it was becasue of not enough juice to the ram.

not sure if i want to go above 1.65 if its gonna fry my cpu though....

Turn the ram multiplier down a notch, if it still reboots under prime you can conclude that it's not the memory holding you back.
