We all like to pet our cats, they love it too but my cat reacts in a funny way when I tickle her near and around the bottom of her back and the start of her tail.

She starts doing weird faces and involuntary head movements, yet doesn't seem to find it unpleasant.

I fear it's sexual

Does anyone else's cat do this? I'll wait while you try ;)

Mine arches his back/sends shivers down his spine (dunno how to describe it, like a mini back spasm) and doesn't seem to like being tickled there really

lol

one of our male cats used to get a bit excited if i tickled his back near his tail too much. I didn't realise until he started shaking his leg

so I guess it is sexual for some lol

I finally learnt the warning signs though i.e. when he would start to stretch his leg out, bate more than normal and purr really loudly. lol

My cat hates it when you stroke his back in a certain way especially if you go all the way down, drawn blood several times :( loves it on his neck though mind you doesn't last long lol always gets bored and struts off like he owns the place

Our cat Dave does it, he starts by arching his back then just loses the plot and starts with the faces and strange sounds. Didn't realise it sexual, now I feel violated :( or should he feel that way :p

I don't have any cats so could be a mile off, tho i think this is true of dogs

I think its something to do with when a male cat/dog mounts the female, his chest, if you like will rub that spot ....

Female cats generally react this way because when a male cat finally manages to mount them, it causes an involuntary back arching that pops their bum up in the air and stretches their tail out of the way, ready for, well... penetration (in the most scientific term I could find)

So yeah, your cat thinks it's about to get laid
