Hiya, doing a little bit of rust removal /prevention on my car and after rust treating/primer coat it need properly cleaning to allow good paint adhesion.

My question is, is it safe to use isopropyl alcohol to clean the area before painting /after primer but before top coat

Thanks

Absolutely, IPA evaporates completely and hence leave no nasty residue to cause problems, but why is it dirty if you have just primed it?

Buy a litre of panel wipe, IPA may evaporate but you never know if it leaves any residue behind which might react with the paint.

Was primed on saturday, wasnt able to paint it sooner than today as I was away and as such it got dirt/rain on it over that time

I have used it on a small area on the arch, will report back if anything untoward happens!
