Camoflage is a form survival mechanism adapted by animals who most of the times have someone above them on the food chain - Elephant on the other hand have very few predators (only man?) hence no need for it. On top of that it would look useless given the fact that their surroundings is not as "big" as them.
Finally, all other animals will point and laugh at them if they do.
Erm last statement might actually not be true.
