Quick bass amp question, Hartke or Ashdown?

Go with which one your prefer. :p

Both are very respectable, decent brands. Try both and buy the one you prefer. If you're buying online then look on Harmony Central or something. But there really won't be much between them.

My friend is in a band and he prefers ashdowns, must say they give a good sound too - but it is best to go try them yourself, your sound will change depending on your amp, and it is best to find an amp that suits your sound.

Yeah, at this power/price point, there'll be very little to choose between them, though I notice the Hartke has an effects loop, which the Ashdown lacks.

Also, having owned Hartke heads/cabs in the past, I'd say that you're probably going to get more colour in your tone from the Ashdown than the Hartke circuitry - I always found my Hartke setup a tad sterile/clinical. But I've not tried these little 'uns, so I'm not exactly speaking with relevant experience.

The Ashdown looks better, too. The Hartke simply screams 'budget!'. But hey: if you need an FX loop, you need an FX loop.

Ended up getting the Ashdown, as im only new and just need something small for my room to practice with.

The practice studio we go to already has a tasty Trace Elliot stack, 2 4x12 cabs and a 7 band EQ head, very nice :D
