hey guys, im sure like many of you, i am looking forward to the release in a couple of days. Cant quite decide between the base 16gb model or 32gb model. Having found out the new price for the base model of £399, it has become a very tempting prospect.

I will be using the ipad quite a lot for music, photo sharing and videos on the move. I dont think 16gb will quite be enough for this. What i was wonderin was whether there was anyway of using extra storage with the ipads
i.e. is it possible to play music/video directly off a usb/sd card using an adapter for the port or is itunes the only way of using files on the ipad

thanks for your help;)

Well there is Dropbox and if you have mobileme iDisk.

Everything can be streamed from your pc/mac so I personally don't see the need to have anything more than 16gb but that's just me.

you won't be streaming dvds from dropbox when on the move. 3g simply isn't fast enough.

You'll need more than 16gb if you intend on putting a decent movie selection on it to take it travelling.

I have the 64gb iPad (1), It takes no effort to fill it up, especially if you're going on holiday and you need something to keep you and the kids entertained with on a long flight.

Buy the largest size you can afford.
It may be a little more now, but you'll be glad of it later I promise.

Edit: And there is no way that I know of of expanding the memory externally.

64GB is better value for money than 32GB at £2.50/GB vs £5/GB.

So really you are paying a premium to have 32GB.

EDIT - Got the math a bit wrong, it should be £3.33/GB vs £5/GB.

I've got a 30GB IPod so I'd go for 64GB IPad if I had the money to buy new. Bit like a gun really I'd rather have one & not need it than need one & not have it.

That maybe true but if you don't need the extra space then its probably best to get the cheaper one and use the money for accessories or just keep the money in your pocket.

I work away a lot and have a lot of videos/music on my pad and the 64gb is essential as a series or two plus some films and music + apps etc and the ipad is full before you know it!

If you are planning on taking it with you then as previously suggested go for the biggest size you can afford. For a home device you can get away with 16GB with iTunes Home Sharing. I have a huge music collection streamed to the device, only issue is you have to have iTunes open for it to work, but this is fine if you have your system on all the time or a server of some kind.

Got iPad.went for 16 in the end.couldn't resist the price.I am seriously living it right now

Bit off topic, but how do I get photos from my pc onto iPad.ne ideas anyone?there's no photos tab in iTunes either
