I know "anything" will be an upgrade to my current setup (phenom II 955) with 8gb DDR2 but have looked at this bundle as an upgrade (with 2 x 8gb DDR4)

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...0gb-ssd-bu-01g-am.html?basketId=19191342#t=a1

Most intensive thing I do now is a bit of video rendering (Part 1080p and part 4k Action cam stuff mainly.) Along with 1080p gaming.
Will keep my GTX970 card.
No plans to overclock.

Yay or nay?

would be a massive upgrade!!!!! 3000hz 16gb or if you can afford- push 8 pack 3200hz .

4k rendering - specially with the likes of DaVinci which is free would be killer! specially over your current system. have video ou wish to edit on the SSD as well as program and once finished, moved the video to storage HDD :)

Indeed. The 2700x would have roughly 6-7 times the grunt of the Phenom II x4 955, and that's not even taking into the account of the much faster ram yet!

Ha!
The rendering does run like a pig at times!
Am dabbling with Davinci, trying to get my head round it.
Read that a Ryzen rig isn't a bad choice for rendering and this bundle is about my budget and would last me a good few years.
Having priced it all up and it's a tad more than elsewhere but with the SDD chucked in it's similar plus I'd get the OcUK CS.

For rendering the Ryzen are is much more bang for bucks than Intel's offering, and that's not even considering the bonus you get with this bundle yet.

The only real benefit of going Intel is of its higher IPC and overclockability allow them to be better at light-threaded applications (games using dated game engine in particular) than AMD's offering, however with the lower number of core counts, anything that use all the available thread properly the Ryren perform better and cheaper than Intel.

This sounds to me like an excellent fit for your requirements. It's decent enough future-proofing for your setup without being hugely expensive, so it gets my thumbs up.

I've just bought a number of these parts piecemeal for a new build, so that's hopefully a reassurance for you. If you're serious about a core system rebuild, it looks like a solid investment.
