Hello all,

I'm off to Spain tomorrow for a week with my mates wooo! :D

Just packing my stuff and I've always wondered about electronics in suit cases, is it ok to put them there? I was always told that putting stuff like cameras, iPod's etc was always a bad idea and should be carried as hand luggage.

Can anyone advise?

Cheers!

:)

If you do decide to put them in your suitcase, make sure they are well wrapped up eg in towels etc. Its ok to carry them in your case but if you think they might get squished then just carry them in hand luggage

Seriously.. engage brain.

Are the items insured? Is the suitcase lockable? Could they get damaged if the suitcase is dropped (It will be thrown into trolleys most likely).

Cameras, Ipods and Laptops will be fine to carry on. As long as they meet the baggage size requirement. Why risk putting them in the hold?

Yes suitcase is lockable, we have travel insurance, not sure if it covers them, main thing is the portable camera I'm taking, plus my iPod.

And I'd wrap em up in towels to protect them.

Why risk putting them in the hold? I want to carry as little hand luggage as possible.

Surely putting a camera and ipod in your hand luggage is hardly effort of the century? You carry it onto the plane, then place it back in your bag when you get off. Its not exactly making a large amount of hand luggage.

Hardly rocket science.

Your advice threads really do amaze me at times :p

Just keep it all in your hand luggage, it's hardly going to be a massive effort to carry an extra 1Kg is it?
