Quick parking ticket question.

wow.. bunch of douches in this thread..

yeah the guy had an error in judgement but you act like he was drink driving or something.

hope you guys are never in a position where you make a mistake and/or error in judgement.

I think the OP is a bit of a prat for putting himself in this position but then if I could i'd avoid paying it as well. So I think he should be cut some slack for that reason.

You've just joined but even as a lurker here many moons ago i realised that the forums here comprimised of a vast network of dbags :D Doncha know everyone who posts regularly in motors is nothing short of a motoring god and a perfect individual in ALL aspects? :D

getting that impression yes ;)

so OP did you get the ticket in the post?

Yeh it came through last week, I think I am just gonna pay it in this case as the time I would spend researching how to get out of it could be better spent to be fair.

To the rest of you, yes I parked on zig-zags yes i realise this was wrong and a mistake. I am eternally sorry for my wrong doings, never shall I park on zig-zags again, consider my lesson learnt!

I'd try to get out of it TBH and post the progress here. Motors needs a target to vent frustration at, and you'll do nicely. :p :D

How would the OP get away with it? He'll have to pay:

You MUST NOT stop or park on:
the carriageway or the hard shoulder of a motorway except in an emergency (see Rule 270)
a pedestrian crossing, including the area marked by the zig-zag lines (see Rule 191)
a clearway (see 'Traffic signs')
taxi bays as indicated by upright signs and markings
an urban clearway within its hours of operation, even when a broken white line is on your side of the road, except to pick up or set down passengers (see 'Traffic signs')
a road marked with double white lines, except to pick up or set down passengers
a tram or cycle lane during its period of operation
a cycle track
red lines, in the case of specially designated ‘red routes’, unless otherwise indicated by signs
Any vehicle may enter a bus lane to stop, load or unload where this is not prohibited (see Rule 141).

You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You MUST NOT overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

Given the OP parked on ZigZags and it clearly states in the HC that you must not park on them he will have to pay, whether he contests it or not.

Anyone with an ounce of sense will know that you don't park on them anyway so he only has himself to blame. It has been years since I read the HC properly but I still know where not to park etc.

I guess all those taking the moral high ground never break traffic or parking rules  give the guy a break, who cares if he gets one over the system fair play

Totally agree.

Honest to god, what a bunch of babies. I think constructive advice is more helpful to the OP than a bunch of muppets saying OMG HOW UNFAIR **** DA POLICE.

No one is being harsh or judgemental, just stating the truth which is the OP shouldn't have parked there.

sup dawg, i heard you like douche so i put some douche in your douche so you can be a douche while you douche.

they weren't constructive, they were just calling him a moron.

y0 d4wg i hurd u lik cryg lyk a grl!

The OP is rather moronic for not knowing one of the basic things in the Highway Code. If you'd stopped to actually read up on the offence that the OP had done you'd realise that it is impossible to contest it and it was a moronic action. Now, please be quite and go back to your cave. :)

well at least I didn't have to resort to that horrendous text speak but hey-ho.

im not saying he wasn't moronic for what he did. but we all make mistakes and have errors in our judgement. apparently you are not one of these people.

must be great, champ

Just as readable as your horrendous attempt at the inclusion of a poor meme. ;)

I never said I don't make mistakes? I simply pointed out that people are correct for telling him off and not being all 'oh you're all so mean/moronic/idiots' etc. because it is something so basic in the Highway Code.

If the OP had more sense and had forgotten the HC (lets be honest, nobody knows everything in there off the top of their head), he could have got home, looked on google for parking on ZigZags and found out he was in the wrong. Then this thread wouldn't exist and people like you wouldn't need to have things explained to them.
