quick protein question

Killa's not fat - remember some fats are good for you and required. I love milk - I tend to drink at least a litre of whole/semi every day. It's good stuff

whey protein can be the cheapest thing in your diet. yes its an initial outlay, but the cost per 'meal' is cheap

an average egg will be about 6g of protein.

I don't buy my own food, I'm 17 and live at home. £30 is a lot to me, and there are lots of other things that I spend money on.

Next year in uni/ this summer (when i will have some money) I do intend to start buying whey though.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Id be concerned about the amount of fat in all that milk, but hey if you are training hard it wont matter that much. I could never take on that much milk a day, too many bovine hormones would be my concern, I tend to stick to Rice Milk on cereal etc and the odd glass of semi skimmed, or semi skimmed in tea.

another question, the (skimmed) milk that we have says 3.6g of protein per 100ml, now there are ~550ml in a UK pint... so that's 19.8g of protein in a pint of milk? that seems like quite a lot. have i got something wrong here?

Nope, that's right.

a lot of sugary carbs and fat too, but mmm tastes soo good.

4.9g of sugars and 0.1g of fat per 100ml, so that's 27g of sugars per pint.

hmm, *table* sugar is 15 Kcalories per 4g, so that's around 70 calories worth of sugar per pint.

£35 initial outlay is dear for a lot of people, but look at it in the long run - 5kg = somewhere around 160 x 30g shakes. thats about 22p per 'meal'. Now can you really say that is expensive?
2 shakes a day = 80 days worth - 44p!

Killa I have this feeling you love milk? :p

Cheap calories and protein, who could refuse? :D

In all seriousness though, nothing wrong with drinking 15 cups of milk a day as long as your active and eat healthily. Remember as a baby you drank milk for about a year straight!

also here in Georgia we get 8g of protein per 100ml and its jacked full of vit D and calcium. Is it the same up there clipsey? I had to research this a bit as I was confused as to why milk was slightly more expensive, turned out I was buying vitamin milk :p

hmm im considering buying a protien shake thing to increase my protien/calorie intake. iv very petite and am 18. im looking for something to to have with a glass of milk before going to bed. what would you people suggest?

normal whey protein concentrate will be fine to be honest.

whats the rest of your diet like?

Most people find the WPC80 Whey stuff from myprotein to be good stuff, get with whatever flavour you like, 5kg is a good amount (20%) plus the 5% coupons everywhere, it works out pretty good value.

Bread's not really the best way you should look for to load yourself up with protein. Though of course every little hlps, however I wouldn't recommend eating a stack load of bread just for that purpose...
