This section of the forum is usually quite fast at responses :p

You know the flat wiper blades, well I know the spoiler side of the driver's blade is meant to be facing the front of the car but what about the passenger side? is it in the same regards as buying a twinpack of normal blades that have 1x spoiler on drivers blade and none on the passenger blade?

I bought a pair of blades off a seller on another board and I managed to get them to fit using the OEM clips after some chiselling (pics to come :p) and they look/function as expected of a flat blade but just the spoiler side on the passenger blade is facing the opposite end to the driver's side leading me to believe they may have sent me a rear widow blade for the passenger side and not a front window one.

I also think this may well be the case as the driver's blade is a X-TRM but the passenger blade was another brand (both look the same though)

Ok maybe not as fast as I thought :p

Here's what I mean, take a look at the driver's side blade, notice the spoilery edge facing the front? look at the other blade,, spoiler is facing backwards! I don't know if this is normal or not as I've never had flat blades before or seen them in use (well paid attention to spoiler direction anyway)

My new Valeo flat blades both have the spoiler facing towards the car.

Do they still function properly?

The spoilers are there to push the wiper onto the window as you're driving - so they should be facing the airflow (ie pointing forward). However, normally they're only fitted to the driver's side, as that's the most important one to be firmly contacting the screen.

Hmm that does make sense but because you never commonly see spoilers on passenger blades I had to find out!

Yup they do, due to them being low profile anyway the passengers one has minimal resistance anyway so I guess it's all good. If it does prove to be a problem at higher speeds like on the motorway then I'll just pick up a 18" passenger side one.

I just wasn't sure as I never knew they made them for rear windows (which is the only function I can think of a flat blade with spoiler facing the other direction)

Can I ask what model your Valeo ones are?

You can....but I don't know :p

Lemme find out....

Valeo UM661's :)

They are fantastic, had my first proper down pour with them last night, very smooth, silent, and they don't leave a weird "film" type substance on the windscreen either :)

Also, they have a square like thing on them which turns yellow when they need replacing.

Is that the driver side? IIRC Valeo have diff sizes for each number !

Is yours a saloon too?

It's gonna be raining here tomorrow so will put these to the real test to see if they were worth £15 for the pair!

Well it said on the site "drivers side" - "passengers side" so i ordered one of each - 2 identical ones turned up and the invoice said "drivers side" "passenger side" - i'm not complaining - they work and don't flap when I do over a ton like my last ones did
