Hey there
I'm going to uni in like a months time and i'm gonna get an iPhone on the £45 contract. I was wondering about the credit check that o2 do when you're buying it. Since I'm a student and have no previous credit history but can afford the contract should that be ok to pass the credit check? What does the cedit check involve? i.e. what do they check? Also, does it matter if i get it from an apple store or 02 store? as in is one or the other more lenient with credit checks?

The only time you fail is when your in bad credit and they will do a debit check of your bank account too.

They did it with me and i managed to pass through, i got refered but when the lady rung customer services they said that i can have it on the condition that i dont use it abroad for three months.

Id deffo go to o2 to get the contract as they will actually give you it on conditions if you fail a check where as Apple may not..

The check it a check of your whole financial history, loans, credit cards, finance, overdrafts and if you have ever been overdrawn etc and if you have moved aronud this may not help your case much.

LOL :D

Im paying my own way, mines £35 a month with 2 added extras, its the other dude whos a student and getting the £45 a month one :D

Hes the dude whos daddys paying :D Im assuming, if hes a student that is..

Yeah I'm paying my own way too lol
I've been working like a dog this summer and add that onto student loans I should be able to afford £45 a month
So technically since I don't have any credit history my credit rating should be acceptable?

Quite possibly but its not all down to that it can be down to weather or not you have moved around or not.

Eg mroe than two moves in the back 3 years etc etc..

it can be down to you missing payments/bills etc, how your bank account(s) look..

You should be okay aslong as the rating isnt bad and your not overdrawn or in debt, they will either accept you or refer you where youll get told that you can have the phone as long as you dont use it abroad for 3 months like me or maybe put down a 50-100 pound bond that youll get back after 3 months..

You should be fine though.

Thanks for the advice
I've been in my house for the past 7 years now and I've never had to pay any bills or anything so hopefully it should all be fine
