Quick question about how secure my money/order will be if i pay via paypal

Before any of you ask its not from the bay..
Anyway, I want to buy a few concert tickets off someone living in Glasgow and I live in Wigan, if I pay him via pay pal how will it work with him receiving the payment? I was thinking it would be something like this:

I send him the money via paypal and he sees the money has been sent but paypal hold the money back from him until I confirm that I have received the tickets (which he said he will send via recorded delivery).

Am i right in thinking that?

Im not sure Paypal hold the fees back like that, once its sent, its sent.

The rest seems accurate though.

Once you send money via PayPal it is indeed sent, same as with a bank transfer, he receives it in his PayPal account and can withdraw it to his bank account as soon as it's entered into the PayPal one.

I was hoping it would work in the same way it does with ebay but i guess it doesnt?

Indeed. He's not buying from an auction so he won't get that protection. However there's the usual dispute form if they don't turn up...

well when i have got things off ebay in the past they money was held back from the seller until i confirmed i had received the item

There is also the argument that ebay + PP protection is completely pants.

Never happened with me, I've been buying for years and selling for the past 6 months without that happening.

Theres no escrow services even with ebay AFAIK

edit/ if you are selling first time, then paypal will escrow
