Can any Corgi (or Gas Safe) registered plumber service a Vaillant boiler? Reason i ask is that the pump in the boiler packed in today and a plumber took over an hour to diagnose it and now has to order the pump. I asked him if he could service it and he said he doesn't bother servicing boilers. I thought that a bit strange as it would earn him a few more quid.

I dont think Combi boilers really benefit from a service, i had a Valliant in my old flat and the plumber said there was little point as you actually break the seal to get into them to service them. This was a 10 year old one and it had never been serviced.

British Gas do heating and boiler cover from £7 a month and i think if you pay a few pounds more you can get a yearly service in with that, probably beter of with that then paying for a one off. We have the boiler and central heating cover wiht them for £13 a month and it covers everything on the system, that doesnt have a yearly service though purely as i didnt think they really needed them.

A heating Technician would probably be more likely to be able to help.

Thanks. I thought being Corgi registered meant that they could deal with the servicing without any fuss!!

Thanks :) The reason i need it serviced is that Vaillant require you to have the boiler serviced within the first 12 months to qualify for the second year's guarantee. I will look at the British Gas option after the second year is up.
