Hi there, Im going to be purchasing some new watercooling kit later in the day as my alphacool dual rad set up is starting to show its age :D

Im going to be cooling

e6600
8800gtx

The gtx I already have a DangerDen full cover block for as I got it very cheap, I will be purchasing everything else new. The kit will be fitted into my thermaltake mozart tx case, heres my spec and questions

d-tek cpu block - question, I'm moving to quad core within the month and was wondering if this block would - as far as can be told - future proof me not only with a kentsfield but also penryn/ect.

DD 8800gtx full cover

Thermochill PA.120.2

Masterkleer 5/8 tubing - ive been advised toward this as opposed to tygon 1/2 stuff due to its snugger fit :D

Laing DDC ultra - a few questions about this one. Firstly I will be getting a petras tech derlin top for it, am I under the right impression thinking this is the best aftermarket top. Secondly can these pumps be mounted upside down with no performance loss/issues? This is quite important to the way my loop is set up.

Lastly I wasn't planning on using a reservoir but I will need somewhere to fill/bleed the system and was wondering whether a Y connecter with a fillport before my rad or a swiftech mcres would allow for better performance in my loop

The DDC cannot be mounted upside down :( and the petra top has proven to be one of the top performers if not the best

A Y connector will be fine, or a T piece.
MCres is also a very good solution.

Overall tis a good kit you specced :)

Thanks for that, Ill have to rearrange how i was going to arrange the items in that case :D

also Ill be looking for 2 new fans on my thermochill,

I currently have 2 antec tri cool fans set to medium on my nexxus extreme dual rad, ive heard from somewhere - forgot where - that the thermochill was suited to low cfm fans over high ones, I was looking at the possibility of getting either 2 noctua 1200 rpm fans or 1 silenx 38mm deep fan quoted at 99cfm for 18db accompanied by a thinner 25mm deep papst fan on the other half of the rad.

Any suggestions as to which two fans I should choose? Silence isnt required as I have other case fans, but I would prefer that they be no louder than my current fan configuration - which is pretty much 5 antec tri cools set to medium and 1 red wing at 12v.

Im looking obviously for the 2 that are best suited to getting rid of the warm air coming off the thermochill..

Does anyone have experience with the silenx 38mm deep fan, is it as good as spec?

I'd not go for Silenx personally...I don't think those specs are accurate. I'd go for any of the usual suspects, yate Loons, sythe's, Noctua's or Panaflo L1's (if you're after 38mm). Having tried both the Yate loon and the Noctuas on a 120.2 I really couldn't see much difference between them temperature wise.

I also prefer the EK barbs over the DD ones, I think they fit tighter.

Im looking at the possibility of jetting this danger den 8800gtx off to a friend who wants one to match it up to his other one, hes also offered me a decent amount for it. With that money im looking to buy a new gfx block, at the moment I hear a lot of good things about the EK full cover blocks, also im hearing good things about the swiftech mcw60 and also the Dtek cpu block.

I will be using one of the 3 on my 8800gtx but I dont know which one to go for, Of course im looking for the best cooling but also something that is going to dump as little heat as possible into my loop, so I guess that kinda rules out the EK block, also Id like to use the same block on a forthcoming next gen card, which pretty much deffinately rules out the EK block.

Which should I go for, EK full cover/ swiftech mcw60/ dtek fuzion with uni sink or bga sinks

I think you have sort of misunderstood the concept m8. The best cooling(efficient heat transfer) block will be the one that dumps the MOST heat into your loop not the least.

The MCW60 is a good performer and not too restrictive but bear in mind you will also need 12 heatsinks (£12 per pack of 8 = £24) to cool the memory down. You will also need an adapter to get the mcw60 to fit. The good bit is that the mcw60 will most likely be transferable to newer cards should an adapter kit be made for it.

The EK block is imo the best looking by a country mile its also an extremely good performer and relatively cheap for a full cover block - cheaper than the mcw 60 + sinks + adapter. However as you rightly point out it is doubtfull it will be transferable to newer cards. The 2nd hand price for an EK 8800 block though is quite high so this takes a lot of the cash out of buying a whole new block.

The Fuzion block is also a good choice but again is most likely not transferable unless an adapter comes out for the unisink.

As far as I can tell they all perform relatively the same so its more of a personal choice regarding looks and budget.

What about Coolant? Im looking at the Feser One coolant but I cant find any reviews for it, does anyone have ideas on how it performs?

Also do you guys prefer Hoseclips or plastic tubing clamps (and why)

Hoseclips because they don't come off and why can't you just use "water"? I have never used any additives bar Halfords Coolant Conditioner and even then we'er talking about tiny amounts of the stuff. If I didn't already have a bottle with lots left in, my next "drain & replace" would be with water and iodine.
