Right so I've just moved in and I haven't bought a TV yet so I'm trying to connect the Virgin box through my PC + TV card. When I press the power button it just stays red and the box only ever displays the time. Is that right? I'd rather not have to call Virgin if its just my TV card.

Oops it was actually just displaying 2110 - it was about that time when I tried to plug it in the other day! Spoke to Virgin and they synced the card as apparently it was tied to another account but that did nothing. Didn't have time to go through the faults department last night - I was hungry! Anyone know what this might be? I've done the usual reboot, remove card etc. The woman at Virgin tried to force a download a couple of times but nothing happened. I really hope I don't have to take a day off work for this, do Virgin visit at the weekend?
if you've just moved in and brought your VM equiptment from another place with you then all that stuff will be tied to your last address I think. I seem to remember this was the case with their modems and internet in that you couldnt swap your modem for someone elses on a different street etc without VM doing something with the line/modem.
