Quidco / Topcashback - What are your views?

Not had a good experience off Quidco personally. I've said this before on OcUK, but as someone has asked again: it involved me wagering on Party Poker's web site. The criteria ws to gain 5 party points, 1 point for each $5 wagered. Therefore you needed to wager $25 to get the 5 points. Once you've got 5 party points, you get £25 cashback from Quidco. So I went on a virtual horse racing game, put $5 on 5 different horses. All of them lost and no party points materialised. My friend who was with me at the time, did exactly the same and it worked for him. He got the 5 points then his £25 was awarded later on. The fact that it failed on me though put me off Quidco and similar sites totally.

I just do online surveys now. Avoid Ciao though, as that tends to screen you out, even 20 minutes into a survey which I thought was taking the Michael. Myvoice though - excellent. Have got £80 out of that so far.

There is, as for untracked cashback it's pretty quick to submit a claim for it to try and get it tracked.

The only problem is sometimes forgetting to use the site before ordering something.

Ah, it works the same as Nectar then. I use Nectar on Amazon, eBay and Play. You get a little cashback if you click through before you order. I must say though it's not much...
 
I never buy things just for Quidco cashback but I often get it on the cheapest options anyway. I usually end up with almost 10% of the cost of my holidays back because all the big discount hotel sites - which are the cheapest around - give Quidco cashback on top.
 
you don't.. you visit the nectar website first, log in and clck the link to collect with amazon every time you shop. (beaten) Doing that with a cashback credit card as well I think gives me about 1.5% back.. can't remember how much nectar gives you back though..
up to 4% actually with this new aqua cashback card...

90% of my online shopping is through amazon anyway so it all adds up quite well

Quidco is awesome. I use and reccomend it all the time.

Recent ones:

I got £50 cash back from a hire car rental the other day, £30 due from my bros stag do hotel. I've made about £800 since using it and it's great when you move house for all the insurance and energy switches. £143 from virgin on my gfs account too.

Online betting combined with matched betting was a nice little earner and eBay purchases soon add up. Infant that reminds me for next football season I need to go through it all again in my gfs account

Exactly this.

Take my current mobile for example, HTC Wildfire S - 500mb data, 100 free minutes and unlimited texts from mobiles.co.uk. This was the best deal around at the time so then I looked on quidco to see what cashback offers they had, at the time it was £50 for a contract phone. With the cashback offers that contract is only costing me £8 a month with a free phone.

I use quidco whenever I get the chance.
 
I would be more interested in hearing how much you've spent in total compared with the amount you got back.

The few things I've bought, sub £100, I get a few quid at most. It seems like it would take some pretty big purchases to get the hundred and hundreds you lot have talked about.
 
There's some purchases that have large amounts of cashback and it could be an easy mistake to make to think you've saved more than you have.

E.g. deal with some mobile site £400 over 18 months. Deal through Quidco £500 over 18 months with £150 cashback, so you take the Quidco offer... and £150 cashback, but you only saved £50.

The biggest cash back was my phone contract.

£15 a month, £82 cash back. 12 month contract.
AA membership - £110, £55 cash back
 
My total paid cashback since 2010 is £235.18.

I dont even buy that much, you can get cashback in store too in a few select places.

Ive had 1 transaction that didnt track but was sorted in the end, apart from that, its about 5 seconds extra of my life spent clicking, not exactly hassle.
 
I've only been on Quidco for a while but I've made a tenner or so already, you just need to remember to make your online purchases via their website instead of doing it directly. Who doesn't like something for nothing :p
 
£1516 paid from quidco over the last 3-4 years. Insurance, gas/electricity and mobile phones give really decent amounts of cashback other sites not so much but it all adds up.
