Hi guys,

I am in the market for a new PSU, as my current Silverstone Striker is way too loud and driving me up the wall. My entire PC has a custom water loop for reference.

I am looking for a high quality 850W+ PSU that is modular, preferably sleeved and very quiet / silent

All advice appreciated

Thanks!

If it's one of older 80+ Gold efficiency Striders it's better to have fan spinning good amount.
Capacitors of those are buried under insanely huge heatsinks and wire spaghetti and would easily suffer from increased ambient temperature.

Anyway what component do you have in your PC?
Would expect it possible to have semi-passive cooling PSUs to be able to stay fanless most of the time if PSU isn't fed warm air of the components.

Hi, the current PSU is a 850W Silverstone Strider Plus, Modular, 88% Eff', 80 PLUS Silver.

Current PC is:
i5 7600k (overclocked)
GTX 1080TI (overclocked)
16GB DDR4
1 SSD
Watercooling Loop
Thermaltake Core P5 Case

Thanks!

Same god awfull full stuffed insides also in that:

Shouldn't be hard to see that getting some airflow for any components under those heatsinks might need some RPM...
And those secondary capacitors actually have colours of Teapo instead of first tier maker.

Enhance must have had some super special volume discount on heatsink aluminium..

If you have stayed in only minute voltage increases then also 750W PSU would be enough.
But if you've gone for balls out overvolting then 850W certainly isn't that much oversizing.

Starting from cheaper end Antec HCG Gold and Seasonic Focus Plus have semi passive "hybrid" fan modes.

Then in upper end there's Seasonic Prime.

Thank you for the feedback! The Seasonic Focus Plus looks great.

This is likely the one I will go for

+1 for the Seasonic focus plus gold. I have the 850W one and the fan rarely spins up while gaming, and when it does I cant hear it.

It will be my go to PSU for any other builds I do.

How noisy is the fan when permanently on? I'm thinking of buying one but was put off by a few comments made here about its fan.
