R&G tail tidy - LED too bright? Or just rubbish?

Now that I'm riding every day in the dark, I've noticed my number plate is quite hard to read when lit up by the R&G tail tidy LED.

I'm not sure if it's too bright, it seems to shine all on one point which makes the rest of the plate quite difficult to read.

Or maybe I need to bend it down, I've heard of some people doing that.

Any ideas?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, apparently some have to. I guess that should reduce the glare from the LED and light it better (hopefully).

I'll give it a go tomorrow.
 
The Plate LED on my R&G tail tidy is like a miniature sun.

I considered soldering a resistor on, but just left it lol.
 
Bought mine not to long ago, looks fine. Its a lot brighter than the standard one however.

Mines really bright too, although police drove behind me numerous of times at night especially and I didn't get pulled over.
