Hey,

This is yet another 'Is my hdd dying?' thread.

I first noticed a problem yesterday while playing l4d2 with maps taking considerably longer to load. The drive is my Steam games drive and other media.

I've run a benchmark on my western digital caviar black 640gb drive and compared it to another I found on the internet -

Mine is on the right, obvious problems there.

Also currently running a 'quick' test on my drive using WDs lifeguard software, here's how that's going :p -

(Ignore it saying my SSD is in IDE mode, I know it's in SATA mode)

I'm thinking it's on the brink of death but if you have any other ideas as to what it could be, please let me know

The controller port may have dropped into PIO mode which would explain the poor benchmark. It might be worth removing the SATA controller that the drive is connected to in Device Manager and rebooting to let Windows reset itself.
