R1 or moped?

It's always going to be quicker than a bike at those high speeds - aerodynamics play a huge part, as does 1001bhp! :D

From a standstill it would be interesting to see how quickly the Veyron catches up, if it doesn't nail the R1 anyway... What's the BHP/Tonne of the Bug? I reckon it matches the bike if not supercedes it.

Still the bike probably didn't even cost into 5 figures :p I have to say though it is stupefyingly fast - it's incredible!

I agree with you about how underwhelming it feels - that's why I prefered the Zonda F by miles when I went in them.

Bonkers quick, they never really get into a fair drag though, the Veyron seems to tank past going miles faster at the beginning, rather than accelerate, and every time it accelerates after that, the bikes either low down the revs, or tipped over.

Impressive though, Porsche sounds nicer though..

For me the Carrera GT has to be the best sounding road car of the last few years, Zonda F isn't to be sniffed at as well

Neil.

You haven't lived 'til you've had a Zonda F come past you at full throttle...

:o Excuse me for a moment.

The zonda sounds great as does an F430 at full tilt, heck i even like the Ford GT.

BUT you aint lived till you hear an Original GT40 coming past full throttle.

Man i'm still cleaning the stains out of my seat!

I think I'd rather the Carrera over a Veyron. Although, I could always sell the Veyron and then buy a CGT and something else, like a house :D

Id take a zonda or a carrera GT over it if I could ownone for a day. Mind without driving any of the cars in questin its hard to say for sure, I just think I would enjoy them more.

not really a fair race at any stage though, Id like to see a straight race, with a decent rider, would be interesting. £10000's worth of bike against £1000000 worth of car :D (R1/GSXR1000/ZX10, exhaust power commander, filter, quickshifter) would give it a run for its money, certainly up to 100-150 anyway, then its bye bye bike, aerodynamics are never in the bikes favour!

pretty much anyone can own/run an R1 or similar, barley anyone can say the same for a veyron, or a zonda F for that matter!

Technically, the car's aerodynamics in a straight line would be a disadvantage. The increased downforce pushing the car into the ground would create an adverse effect on acceleration.

The bike with little or no downforce should hammer anything - but the Veyron is just too damn quick :)

Quality vid by the way, good find!

It's nothing to do with downforce.

It's all to do with the coefficient of drag and the frontal area.

I'd like to see a Veyron vs. Jack Frost's Hayabusa 0-250mph.

Can you imagine the effect 150mph wind is going to have as it gets between the rider and the bike? Might slow him down a touch ;)

Agreed, have you ever been on a bike over 100mph?

The wind tries to rip the helmet off your face.

Nope - unless you can tuck yourself in so nothing sticks out of it's extremities you're never going to be able to be as slick as a car like that. All these super sports cars are low to the ground, have amazing diffusers, and an enormous amount of power to supercede the high drag coefficient that happens at those speeds. As much as I'd love the bike to be quicker than that sort of car at stupid high speeds I know it's not really a possibility.

It would be nice though to see an rolling start at the same speed - I reckon it would be closer - but there's no denying the Bug would pull away as the speeds get higher.

I'm not so keen on that factory tuned sound they have. That sound is pre-decided from the factory rather than what the engine puts out. If you listen to the uncorked endurance Porsches they sound completely different, much nicer.

Totally agree. The closest I've got is on a cruise down in Bath, we pulled out onto the straight road outta Bath and all nailed it. I was going flat out in the Anglia and the replica GT40 running a 460 Ford came past me like I was standing still. Still dream about that sometimes :D
