I would strongly advise not getting rabbits for your 4 year old, not all rabbits like to be handled, they can live for more than ten years and require more time than you would think.
If you do decide to get rabbits then I would echo what others have said and go to an animal shelter; you'll be able to ask about the temperament of the rabbits they have and receive an honest answer. As rabbits are very sociable most shelters will not allow you to take a single rabbit unless you are going to bond them with an existing rabbit so be prepared for two of them!
