Hi all

Would anyone be able to give me an idea how much better/worse a Radeon 4850 would be over an 8800GT? Looking at 4850 reviews, they compare to other modern cards rather than older ones like the 8800GT.

Many thanks

Michael.

When I had my 8800GT, the 4850 was roughly around the same performance, the 4850 was probably a bit better.

Since then nvidia have released a ton of newer drivers unlocknig more performance (ATI may well have done the same)

They're around the same though afaik.

As I remember, 4850 is around the 9800GTX level (hence the need for the GTX+), the 8800GT is likely about 5-10% slower dependant on game, it wont be a massive difference.

No, the 4850 was faster than the 9800gtx, the GTX+ was about the same.

straxusii link seems spot on. I would have said 20-25%, so 23% will do just fine ;)

From memory the 4850 was a fair chunk ahead when it first came out, but then Nvidia managed to even it out a little with drivers, which would also benefit the 8800GT.

The 4850 is faster, not massively so though.

A 4870 though... :D
