Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

What of the chances then of AMD fooling all of us
and there is a 490 today as well
wish full thinking i know but still would be such a fantastic surprise more so that they where able to keep it stum

So All aboard the 490 surprise card train :p

Except most of what you just said is false :/

SAME performance.
SAME price.
New "featers"
On mobile so pardon the typo.

Price isn't same, even with the exchange rate difference which you shouldn't really be counting it still isn't. Ocuk is the only place with few cards left and those prices, everywhere else the 970 is still a £260-300 card.

Well, looks like I'm going Nvidia for the first time since my 7950GT :(

Yup, me too (last nV card was 460).

AMD do not deserve to stay in business, if the absolute best they can do is match last gen's perf/£ on a brand new process.

Poor show.

Waiting for VEGA then if I didn't have freesync I'd of brought a used 980ti or 1080. Remember this is one guy though and he might not even have the right drivers.

I don't see how people can't decide between 480 or 1070. It's not even the same category, its $400 vs $200 GPU.

It's like thinking whether to get a 960 or 980ti.

Gouging is not accurate, nominate any forum member who is local, they can come in, I shall show them our purchase orders on all RX-480's and they will then see all cards are at single digit margins.

Seriously nominate someone to come in, or anyone local who wishes to come in I will happily show them. :)

Our cost difference is $40-$50 between 4G & 8G !!!!

Thanks Gibbo, it's this level of feedback and honesty that sets OcUK apart from most other retailers (As well as the detailed explanation previously with regards to how invoices were raised and how the exchange rate affects this).

I appreciate this and find it interesting to know a little bit more about the inner workings of the shop.

People are quick to accuse OcUK of gouging, but time and again it is proven that other suppliers who are cheaper normally have very little stock at that price.

It is because there was hope that the 480 might overclock to near 1070/980Ti levels.

The ass seems to have fallen out of that now though.

Not sure how Gibbo has it between 970 and 980 but that youtube review has it way below the 970?

Some of those benches had HBAO+/Gameworks features. Also, the 970 was EXOC- why?!

Interesting thing there is how well the 480 did in games like Fallout 4 and Creed with Gameworks on. It was a good bit better than the other AMD cards there. Also he benched the new Total War game at DX11, but Tomb Raider with DX12. Odd choice

So I'm going to wait for more reviews, to see what the overall performance is.
