Interesting few months for GPU's.

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
You forgot the gouging. Add £40 to each and I think you are there. (For AIB)
So if the 480 8gb card going to be about $230-ish, then there is a card missing right?
AMD said $100-$300 right?
So what's the $300 card?
The 2 options:
1) there is a full 40CU higher clocked 480X for $300
2) $230 is the base price, AIB cards with more premium cooker and mauve higher clocks.
how is that significant gains when a gpu 40% slower becomes 20% slower ? if 1080 was any good in async it wouldn't have allowed the fury to gain 20% on it.That might be a pretty tall order seen as the 1080 shows decent gains in dx12

"200+ FPS on Polaris and Vulkan"
I think that's possible @ 1080P Ultra. Doom on my overclocked 290X runs about 120fps in many areas with an average of about 85 fps. With Vulkan it should get a decent boost.
Or maybe they are talking about the full Polaris?![]()
I am very excited for the mauve premium cooker version.
It's probably another stupid crossfire comparison. $500 of 480 gets 200FPS at 1080 under some settings.
Gains against the 980Ti that is. Normally the 1080 is only about 25-30% faster than the 980Ti but in Hitman DX12 it pulls away further to 40%.
so all nvidia needs to do to fool ppl of a false performance of it's new line up, is to leave older gen unoptimized ?
no but seriously it makes more sense to judge a vendor's improvement on a product by comparing it to it's competitor's.
20% is the usual gain from AMD in async, fury took the 20% like they usualy do, now see where the nvidia line up lands, 1080 standing still, 980ti went down by 15%, i think it's a lot more accurate than the way you look at it.

Look at this as well^. Big gains in DX12 compared to maxwell. 44% faster than a 980Ti using Async.
What? My repsonse was just in reponse to Gregster,'s post, stating that the RX480 would have to be 20% faster than the Fury X in DX12 to beat the 1080.
yes i know, and i just responded because i thought it was inaccurate, 1080 didnt gain through async over 980ti, but the latter lost efficiency to where it's supposed to be thats all.
Looking to be between 970 and 980. Doesn't look like its anywhere near a Ti. Also doesnt look like it will get near a Fury.
However, nobody really knows exactly yet.![]()
Good grief.![]()
well i triedno sir, you will not get that acknowledgment for me!
ah man sounds like a rebadged 290/390...
480 4GB @ $200 = £137 + 20% VAT = £165
480 8GB @ $230 = £158 + 20% VAT = £190
490 8GB @ $300 = £206 + 20% VAT = £247
I would be surprised but very pleased if the 8GB drops under the £200 barrier
they did say under $500 for 2 of them which would suggest inc vat a price of just under £210 + "insert terrible exchange rate here" making it roughly 215 so I would guess at £219.99 which is a solid price anyway.
