Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

It's hard to say as Zen Apu's might eat away at the low end if they are good enough. If what he says is true then there could be a 480 4gb/8gb and a 490. With the 11 chip it might only have to service another 3 chips as Zen could be fast enough to service the rest of the price range.

I would've thought Zen was too far away to be talked about in laptops that they held up in the demonstration.

Maybe i forgot they are targeting the first Zen at the top. I still think Polaris 11 is small enough to service most of the low end. Assuming the demo they showed v the gtx950 was the top end Polaris 11 they could cut it down a lot.

ok then thats confusing, maybe they are still working on drivers, but there must be a reason why they use online bench.
AMD is toying with our nervs thats why ! :D

Official in the sense that it is a real 3Dmark score but using an unknown AMD card with a 1266mhz core clock which looks like it is the RX480.

We don't know for sure though.

The only "official" and confirmed benchmark we have is the corssfire AOTS one against the 1080 as far as i know.

Yea all i think he wanted to know, was it on the 3dmark site and not just something that Videocardz put in a chart.

there is no Zen CPU before very late 2016 or early 2017 on desktop then will be followed by servers, then maybe end 2017 first Zen APU with HBM.
the laptop they showed at computex it's still excavator tweaked more the FX9800p

Judging by the hype in this thead it Won't be long now until the 480 is in between the fury x and 1080 for performance and cost £100 and we can all just buy 6 :p

What hype? Most ppl in this thread agree its going to be around 390x/980 performance.

Not likethe hype that the 1080 will easily hit 2.5 on aftermarket cards lol :D

I don't think it matters. The GPU is gonna sell by the boat load regardless.

In the name of science I might buy two and and an 8320e for a new build.
Not sure yet though.

It does matter as some of the people arguing in this thread are taking it far too seriously yet have no intention of even buying the card.

I wonder how many people debating in this thread will actually be getting a RX 480 !!!

I'm actually getting one, unless there is a 480X or 490 on the 29th as well; then getting a top Vega/Pascal card once that's out.

Already sold one of my 980Ti's and my Asus SWIFT weeks ago for a good amount, and agreed to sell my second at a set price to the same friend once I get a new card to tinker with.

I really want to test and see how AMD's new hardware encoding works, and if it'll really be as good for video production as they claim. Also got a Freesync monitor to pair with 'em.

Well, I agree with that. Also, those people should not be in this thread when all they are trying to do is cause friction, however they have motives for doing what they do and are unlikely dissappear anytime soon.

I'm not sure that's it's entirely reasonable to limit threads like these to only people who intend to buy the card the thread is about.
