Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

I do remember you posting in the Pascal threads and posting negatively. You shouldn't really have double standards and I doubt you will be buying any Pascal products.

Read the last paragraph. I allude to that do I not? I then state I no longer retaliate.

Apology?

And I have also stated previously I did consider the 1070 but changed my mind.

No, I can't see myself ever buying Nvidia again now. - hence only staying in threads appropriate to me.

Posting 1 or 2 posts is different to what we seeing in a lot of Amd threads where some nvidia fans are some of the highest posters and where most of their posts are negative.

There seems to be a bit of a weird mentality from some of the Nvidia fans on this and other forums, it's almost as if spending more money on a gpu makes them better at life, im sure I'm not the only one who sees this as well.

Plenty of the Nvidia enthusiasts are openly rude and condescending towards AMD and AMD fans, I've even seen them being called peasants etc.

Just because you buy a gpu that costs more than someone else does not automatically make you a better person, and before people start taking pot shots at me for posting this, I don't buy Nvidia, because I do not like their business practice, they are very shady and over price their products because they can, I understand it's a business but that's how I feel.

I prefer to buy AMD as I know they offer me the best performance per pound spent normally, and I generally only upgrade when I feel the games I play start to struggle.

Currently I am playing Division alongside WoW and D3 and ESO, my 290 struggles a bit now on Division with all the bells and whistles, so I will upgrade, I have 2k sat waiting, I could go and buy 2 x 1080 and a G-Sync screen but I feel I would be wasting my money, I will hold off for Vega, buy the 480 in the meantime and see how Zen is then make my move.

But I know AMD is going to probably offer me the best bang for buck, plus I would t be paying any G-Sync tax on a free sync monitor
This persecution complex is just hilarious.

And I swear the people who cry about this are the same people who regularly spout anti-Nvidia nonsense at every opportunity, or talk about how people who buy Nvidia are just doing it because of better marketing or other condescending crap.

Essentially, the people who complain about this tend to be highly biased themselves and thus see things in a very 'us vs them' perspective.

Which is a bit sad. When I started PC gaming, I had no idea there were going to be tribalistic warriors for graphics processors.

Did you not bring up throttling issues in this thread not a few minutes ago and even after what you stated you wouldn't do?

Greg which 480 you getting ? A ref one? I wonder if they will do reference models as they didn't bother with 390 however as they were basically a rebadge the AIBs pretty much could shovel them out straight away.

I'm going to wait for an AIB after I bought a ref 290 it's scared me off Ref AMD cards Hahaha

;)

No, I glided over it without wanting to discuss it but used that example to make a point.

Regardless, what damage would it do anyway in this thread? Most people here have no interest in buying one anyway, hence being in a thread where a $200 GPU is being discussed.
Geez Gregster, you are defensive for a vendor neutral as you state you are.

Cool another Nvidia warrior for the ignore list!

I see it from all angles and pointing out flaws in your postings doesn't at all make me defensive but more observant. It doesn't matter and I like your honesty on being passionate about AMD.

I will leave it there as well, as I have made my point.

Probably the cheapest non ref to go in a mid tower case. 4GB as well as it won't really be gamed on that much.

The flaw was assuming I highlighted that topic with the intention being negative towards Nvidia which was clearly not the case.

....apology accepted

Have you ever considered that some people are merely interested I. Technology and have no brand bias. These postures were very active in the pascal thread before it was announced and in the days after discussing the facts. Now pascal facts are in the wild and already debated there is far less speculation. We don't have 480 reviews or as much details thus it is natural that there is far more discussion in this thread.

And I don't see many people being negative at all about the 480. Don't confuse people being realistic about the specs, chip-size, power consumption, and the known facts about the process and microprocessor design used to defuse the over-hyping and unrealistic expectations as being negative.

The 480 is a great card for $230 but one has to be open to discussion it's cons as well as pros.

I can't really comment about Nvidia users being attacked by AMD fanboys. But, I spend very little time on these forums or keeping up with the debate on GC for some time. When my card needs upgrading I read for a while to get the best performance per pound which normally ends up being an AMD. Basically I have no opinion either way on AMD vs Nvidia and am removed from the argument these days.

However, last time I was at lan I was laughed at for buying AMD and told that they had many problems and I should buy Nvidia. I explained that I had used AMD cards (and Nvidia) for many years and never had a problem, but was told that I was wrong....by people who only buy Nvidia.

In short, as stupid as it is, there is persecution for buying AMD.

More on topic, my card just died (the first time this has ever happened to me :( )and this seems like good replacement. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.

If people do not want to buy AMD then why waste peoples time trolling this thread. They should go back to the Nvidia threads and talk up their brand there.

Only reason for people to spam this thread is to try and downplay AMD since they see the new card as a threat. Pathetic attitude when they should be happy that AMD is bringing much needed competition so that Nvidia is forced to reduce prices.

At Threat to what?

I'm not saying people dont say stupid things about people buying AMD.

But I see plenty of condescension towards people who buy Nvidia, too. And just general anti-Nvidia sentiment. As always, everybody thinks their vitriol is justified.

Basically, I'm not denying that any of it exists. Just pointing out how obviously biased you have to be in the first place to not see that it's all a two-way thing. That both sides are guilty of tribalistic antagonism towards each other. In particular, some of the people here complaining about their persecution are people who have NO PROBLEM attacking Nvidia or saying dumb things about why people buy Nvidia. It's hypocritical and just inane platform warring that we could all do without.

This section of the forum is a very amusing read, people on here seem to get so emotional about GPU's, really not sure why either, just seems like some people are so insecure about the choices they make in life and unless everyone agrees they can't be happy.

I'm not really interested in the 480 for me personally, I'm invested into GSYNC now but I think it's a great move by AMD, I really hope it helps bring down Nvidia's pricing too, I'm just glad more people can enjoy more performance for less, my little brother is going to be well chuffed when this GPU is released.
