Anyone just watch that on BBC2??
Wow, very interesting stuff! Needless to say, it is either the government paying off the BBC to try and convince the masses, or, we just don’t understand it enough!

What made me laugh, was the headline figures for the predicted amount of deaths for Chernobyl! 4000 or about that they thought. But so far they said that only about 50 odd can actually be pointed at the accident!

If the BBC are still doing that download thing so you can watch a programme, I seriously recommend people to watch this!

I'm assuming it was talking about low level radiation. As high level is known to be fatal.

Yeah, low level as in a nuclear power plant going bye bye, eg, Chernobyl. lol I could believe what they were saying in the programme! :D

This coming a few days after the government announces they will build more nuclear power plants

Its the only fuel we can use in the near future. It's also extremley safe. A modern power station cann't melt down.

And completely irrelevant to the topic, and to the comment I made. If you want to have a debate on the safety of nuclear power, open your own thread instead of derailing this one. :p

Yeah cos Horizon is such a major influence on the publics opinion just one BBC program made by lackies of nuLabour will sway the masses to President Blairs viewpoint.

BTW this program said nothing new.

Whhhhooooooo! I'll stop you there! Can i be you? :D

Well, i've never heard all this before. Personally the only stuff i've heard about Chernobyl is all the media overkill. :o

actually i thought nuclear is gonna be on its way out, we have like 100 years of it no?

nuclear fusion is the next one....all you need is water pretty much, and theres infinite sources of that! it is impossible to blow up/melt down and theres very little waste!

All of Britains nuclear power stations are scheduled to be decomissioned within the next 20 years or so. Hence the need to build new ones.

Was a very interesting watch, the most shocking bit for me was the number of abortions that were almost forced on people in the vacinity.I'm sure they said 200k,but thinking about it after that seems way too high, did i mis-hear it or was that the figure given? Even if it was 'only' 2000 that would dwarf the number who actually died by a factor of 40.

Abortions do not count as deaths. end of.

even if they did, they would not have been as a result of radiation damage, more a result of the Fear of radiation damage.
