Hi all,

The MG has a slight coolant leak looking like its coming from the water pump. Cambelt is due in 10k so reluctant to fix it now, what are your experiences with it?

Would it work in this scenario? It is only a few drips a day.

Don't want to do more damage than good!

Will probably be ok although it is designed for radiator leaks. Personally I would just do the cam belt early and put a new waterpump in. I always change the cam belts before the due mileage just to be sure they are ok.

Just fix it and do the bloody cam belt now.

You don't want that crap in your water system anyway, it can make a big mess and end up blocking waterways etc.

That simply doesn't compute, you will need to spend the money eventually, why not spend it now instead of having to spend more later?

This may be true, but it wasn't an expense I wanted just before Christmas. But yes your right, its all part of owning a car (especially a British one).

Isn't radweld used for sealing small gaps in the radiator?

If the water pump is leaking, it'll be coming out of quite a large overflow hole which it'll have no chance of sealing.

Get it changed now. You'll soon be sick of topping up with anti-freeze and will probably start substituting it for plain water which will won't end well.
